The new rework has drawn praise on socials from Nelly Furtado, Masego, SiR & Yussef Dayes
YellowStraps has released the much-anticipated UKG flavoured version of ‘blue (yes, i love you)’, out now on Haliblue Records/Universal Music Germany/Polydor UK.
Featuring French pianist Sofiane Pamart’s sensitive keys work, the original version of ‘blue’ was a highlight of YellowStraps’ album tentacle which came out last year. But when the Belgian teased this new UK Garage version of the track on his socials it caused such a viral buzz, garnering praise from Masego, SiR, Yussef Dayes as well as pop legend Nelly Furtado.
There was only one thing for it: a full release of the new rework, reminding us again of YellowStraps’ quick-fire flow and lucid lyricism, only this time through the prism of a UK garage-inflected production.
The Brussels-based artist has been blazing a trail in the Belgian rap scene in recent years and, after a string of successful singles, and album and international tours over the past year, the artist has made another giant leap forward. Now with tour dates in Barcelona (La Nau on 23rd May) and Madrid (Bassement Club on 24th May), it’s only big things ahead for 2024.
Founded in Brussels, YellowStraps has been nurturing a unique neo-soul blend that caresses the senses for nearly ten years now, proudly championed by the bubbling Belgian rap scene in which they are a part of.
