A quiet moment shaped by the city and the makers who move through it.

Stichting Timer is a foundation in formation in Rotterdam. Its purpose is clear. To make the work and influence of Timer visible. A maker who shaped the city through the way he looked, worked and moved. His legacy deserves a place that lives and breathes.

A conversation took place with DuvelDuvel at the Hiphophuis. Duuv and Supahdupah shared that they want to contribute to the launch of the foundation. Their motivation comes from a shared history. Timer was someone close to them. A maker with his own rhythm and his own way of seeing. Someone who gave the city colour and left a trace that is still present in Rotterdam.

DuvelDuvel carries the same status. Iconic in their own right. They shaped the language, the tone and the energy of Rotterdam hiphop in a period when the city was finding its own voice. Their influence reached far beyond Rotterdam and set a direction that many followed. Their work moved through neighbourhoods, cities and scenes, and their presence in this project feels like a return to a shared origin.

Outside the heat was intense. Inside the air was calm, even without any cooling. The space held the warmth in a way that did not weigh on the room. Perhaps because of the character of the building. Industrial. Warehouse. Urban. Young. Energetic. Open. Rotterdam. The atmosphere of the conversation moved in the same direction.

The Hiphophuis shared that they want to facilitate the kick off of the foundation and that they support the initiative. The words settled quietly in the room. It felt as if the house itself responded. A place that has carried makers for years and now opens its doors again for a story that belongs to the city. Music. Image. The street as a place of learning. A line that is not drawn but already exists and became visible here once more.

The date of twenty November stands as a provisional anchor. Due to a renovation the Hiphophuis will be able to confirm in August whether the space is available. Until then the work continues on the content and the shape of the day, which currently carries the working title The Drop Is On.

DuvelDuvel brought ideas that reach beyond a performance. A book about Timer. Text and image. A document that shows the scale of his influence and the way his work is still present in the city. A story that touches their own history as well. A story that shows how everything is connected.

The conversation made one thing clear. This is not a beginning. It is a movement that has existed for years and is now taking a form that can be seen.
