Maintaining a bubbling momentum, the Birmingham-based artist Marnz Malone has accumulated a vast following that spans the country’s borders. Housing co-signs from UK hit-maker’s Dave and Nines to name a few, Complex UK’s ‘Ones To Watch’ rapper gained over 60+ million streams in 2024 alone. Gaining support from Clash Magazine, COLORS, Complex UK, i-D and more, the ‘Sabr’ mixtape arrives in sequence to his 2023 debut ‘Maktub’. Establishing his growth as an artist, the mixtape features UK veteran Chip, Canadian hit-maker Northside Benji, as well as KayMuni, Revsboogie, Sharna Bass and YTB Gio.

Moving into “Free Minnie” with Young Trap Boy Gio, a reminder to his younger listeners to steer clear of his mistakes, Marnz explores the repetitive life a prisoner lives. Enlisting one of the UK’s most respected emcee’s, Chip and Marnz slow it down for “Your Beautiful”, further emphasising his versatility as a promising act. Swiftly moving into “First Time”, we stumble across pre-released track “I Hate January” alongside KayMuni. Navigating the increasing number of suicides in custody, both newcomers uncover an issue that lacks awareness; something that Marnz Malone holds close to his heart. Complimenting each other seamlessly, Northside Benji and Marnz go back-to-back before transitioning into slick listen “Pretty Girls Listen To Marnz”. Stepping into the captivating release “Dwight Man Freddie”, Marnz begins to close out the mixtape with “Sticks & Stones” alongside UK newcomer Revsboogie, and singer-songwriter Sharna Bass on “Old News Pt. 2”. Creating a mixtape that’s not only versatile but boasts profound lyricism, Marnz Malone continues to prove why he’s one of the hottest rising rappers in the UK. When asked about the meaning behind the mixtape Marnz Malone explained, “My project names really reflect on how I feel at that moment in time. The cover artwork you see on ‘Sabr’ was taken last year, 5 years later than my mugshot (the cover of ‘Maktub’) that they took when I left the hospital for this case, nearly 6 years ago this year. It’s almost like 5 years on. ‘Sabr’ is Arabic for patience and in this scenario of me having to have patience and you lot having to have patience as the audience, just the whole word patience in itself and what it means to me, that’s why I called the tape that. ‘Sabr’ is ‘Maktub’ pt 2 but just with a different name.”

Rapper Marnz Malone is one of the hottest prospects in UK music. Born and raised in Spanish Town Jamaica, he moved to England around the age of 6 years old, more specifically Birmingham Newtown.
His Jamaican roots influenced his music heavily and he was constantly surrounded by music “Vybz Kartel & Movado’s clash at Sting was probably the first time I realised the impact of music because the whole gaza vs gully thing was massive where I’m from.” Moving to Newtown in Birmingham, the rap scene there began to influence him, and this is where he realised the power of music.
