“Tora-i creates goosebump-raising, ethereal tracks, with a voice able to transport listeners to new worlds” – British Vogue

Sharp, soulful and experimental” – The Fader

Tora-i has returned with a new track ‘Palace’ and announced her sophomore EP ‘& what else?’. Inspired by the life lessons learned in her travels on tour and absence from releasing music. Taking time to be on her own, Tora-i found peace and creative calm that she then released in the studio with producer Josh Grant, resulting in ‘Palace’. The new record and music is an exploration of personal re-birth.

Tora-i explains ‘Palace’: “This is probably my most elemental song, we wrote it quite quickly and very naturally. After spending over a month in L A pretty much alone, I had gone through all emotions of what it meant to live alone and be alone. By the time of writing Palace, I was just happy taking each day as it came. I wrote this about the return of self so rather than finding or outwardly searching it’s already there just needed to clear off the excess”.

Existing as a child of the diaspora, Tora-i consists of both Jamaican and Ghanaian ancestry, with both of her parents ushering her to explore her internal desires for the arts in school. Growing up with considerable artistic support Tora-i has found frustration with the limitation of the labelling of music in the UK. Tora-i isn’t bound by genre and often finds herself leaning towards electronic influences while also harnessing the power of raw instrumentals and guitar plucking on the new EP.

Tora-i has been tireless in learning her craft on top of her time with Omar she also supported Snoh Aalegra at Brixton Academy as well as performing before London Grammar.
