Upcoming Live Dates With Lizzo & Flume
Tkay Maidza shares a brand new single, “Silent Assassin,” produced by fellow Australian Flume. A laser-focused song about self-empowerment and self-confidence, Tkay raps with a razor-sharp cadence to Flume’s industrial earth-shuddering beats, reminding everyone she’s a “jigsaw, not a quick fix.”
“I like to move in silence, but this song is a reminder that people shouldn’t count me out or underestimate my abilities; they should be afraid when I’m quiet as I come back more evolved,” Tkay says. “I’ve always wanted to work with Flume and was immediately ecstatic when he played the instrumental for this; I wanted to channel Busta Rhymes and Missy Elliot.”

“Silent Assassin” follows Tkay’s festive single “Nights In December” of last year. Her 2021 EP Last Year Was Weird, Vol. 3 represents the culmination of a 3-year-long, 24 song-strong genre-bending trilogy exploring Maidza’s own African-Australian experience. The Last Year Was Weird trilogy earned her a 2021 ARIA Awards win for Best Soul/R&B Release and an NME Award for Best Solo Act From Australia in 2022. She has recently joined Billie Eilish and Dua Lipa on tour and is currently working on the follow-up to 2016 debut album Tkay.
The Zimbawean-born, Australia-raised, Los Angeles-based rapper, singer and producer will be back in Australia next month for an appearance at Splendour In The Grass festival and live dates with Lizzo.
