On January 23, an exclusive listening session will take place in the Eye Film Museum, Amsterdam
The Smile today released their brand new single “Friend Of A Friend“, the song is taken from the upcoming second album “Wall Of Eyes” which will be released on January 26th. “Friend Of A Friend” was already presented live during the tour in 2022/2023; the studio version features strings from the London Contemporary Orchestra and saxophone from Robert Stillman.
The music video for “Friend Of A Friend,” directed by filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson, will premiere during a “Wall Of Eyes” listening session held by several cinemas around the world. The events, titled “Wall Of Eyes, On Film“, will celebrate the new album and the band’s collaboration with Paul Thomas Anderson. In the Netherlands, the event will take place on Tuesday, January 23 at the Eye Film Museum, Amsterdam.
You can register for free tickets for the event via this link on Thursday, January 11 from 11:00 AM. In addition, a number of tickets will go on sale via Eye Filmmuseum on Friday, January 12.
The events include: – A complete listening session “Wall Of Eyes”, for the first and only time with surround sound.
– Never-before-seen footage from the album’s recording sessions.
– The world premiere of the film “Friend Of A Friend” and a presentation of “Wall Of Eyes“, both directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and shot on 35mm film.
– A program that looks back on Paul Thomas Anderson’s previous directorial collaborations with both Thom Yorke and Radiohead, including “ANIMA” (short film) and Radiohead’s “Daydreaming” (35mm), “Present Tense” and “The Numbers“.
The Smile’s new album “Wall Of Eyes” was recorded between Oxford and Abbey Road Studios, produced and mixed by Sam Petts-Davies, and features string arrangements by the London Contemporary Orchestra. “Wall Of Eyes” is the follow-up to the band’s acclaimed 2022 debut album, titled “A Light For Attracting Attention.”
The album “Wall Of Eyes” will be released on January 26 via XL Recordings/Beggars.
