FEATURING BRITISH TRAILBLAZER DENZEL HIMSELF
PREVIOUS SUPPORT FROM DAZED, COLORS, VIPER, ONES TO WATCH, NOTION & MANY MORE
Sweden’s Grammy-nominated emerging artist Venus Anon has unveiled her highly anticipated EP ‘Catharsis’, a four-track transformative project that explores relationships through themes of love, betrayal, and self-discovery. Emphasising her artistry, Venus continues to push her creative bounds by writing, recording, and producing the EP herself. Gaining support from COLORS, Ones To Watch, Notion and more from pre-released singles “Shoulder” and “Spooky” featuring British trailblazer Denzel Himself, ‘Catharsis’ defies genres and cements her bubbling status.
Spread across four tracks, Venus Anon takes her artistry to an intensely personal level. Weaving the liberating, and often painful transformations that come with self-discovery, Venus has produced her most vulnerable work yet. Stepping away from analogies and metaphors, her direct and honest lyrical approach gives the EP substantial emotional weight that offers a bridge of relatability to supporters. The EP’s lead single “Shoulder” has already gained traction, earning a spot on P3’s B-rotation. The track pairs vibrant dance-pop energy with candid lyrics about codependency and breaking free. In contrast, “Spooky”, featuring British artist Denzel Himself, delves into darker, gothic territory, blending Venus’ ethereal sound with Denzel’s introspective intensity to create a haunting dynamic that embodies the duality of vulnerability and strength. Both “Ready For Slaughter”, a delicate offering, and “Nothing’s Really Over, Not With Anyone” embrace Venus Anon’s signature ethereal sound.
When asked about the EP, Venus Anon shared, “‘Catharsis’ is four songs, four different relationships, and how they changed me. These aren’t necessarily romantic relationships but connections that span trust, betrayal, and discovery. It’s transformative but not in a pretty way—it’s messy, chaotic, and at times, I felt like my own hostage in the studio, pushing myself through a process I couldn’t escape.”
Venus Rami, otherwise known as Venus Anon, spent her early years on the Swedish west coast listening to Googoosh and Timbaland. During her teenage years, the trailblazer lived in Stockholm, deeply embedded in the city’s underground and queer scene, where every impression of new music became an influence. Contemporary R&B, smart pop productions, 21st century emotional indie and electronic dance – everything is heard as small tracks in the music she now creates as Venus Anon.
In April 2023, she released ‘Nocturnal’, a seven-track mixtape that really set the tone for her magical world of sound. The release was followed by appearances at festivals around the Nordics, including at Way Out West in Gothenburg, Power Pose Festival in Umeå and By:Larm in Oslo and praised by several critics, including one of today’s most prominent music journalists, Anthony Fantano (The Needle Drop). In the spring of 2024, Venus was nominated for a Grammy in the Soul/RnB category of the year. Gaining co-signs from Adidas and Dr Martens, as well as support from Notion, Viper Magazine, COLORS, and Anthony Fantano (The Needle Drop). Venus Anon has created a body of work that establishes her voice as one of Sweden’s best emerging acts.
