FIRST RELEASE OF JMEDIA AND WARP RECORDS PARTNERSHIP
ANNOUNCES EUROPEAN TOUR
Multi-dimensional musician and artist, Jasper Marsalis, who performs as Slauson Malone 1, shares his inaugural release as part of jMedia’s partnership with Warp Records in the form of new single “Voyager,” accompanied by a music video directed by Ryosuke Tanzawa. Alongside the release, the artist announces a European tour of headline and festival dates in November, following his fall US/CA tour, with tickets available for purchase here.
The single chronicles Slauson Malone 1’s move from New York to Los Angeles in a period of doubt and aimlessness following the release of his 2019 full-length A Quiet Farwell, 2016-2018 (Crater Speak). Paired with a music video directed by Ryosuke Tanzawa, the visual speaks to overwhelming feelings of joy experienced by the artist, and by extension, a desire for a new sense of belonging. A metaphysical visual experience, Marsalis pulled a great deal of influence from Tetsuo: The Iron Man, clearly demonstrated through clips of the artist dressed in a suit, walking through New York while barefoot.
“I wanted to write something in the state of being sick of being sick, annoyed with being annoyed,” Jasper describes of the single. “This verse documents my first steps of refusing the indulgence of trauma and grief. With each movement, the feeling returns but different, weirder.”
The announcement of Slauson Malone 1’s European tour follows his headlining US tour set to begin October 12 in Montreal, and concluding at New York’s Bowery Ballroom on October 22. The new performances are underpinned by a set of Slauson Malone 1 live dates earlier this year alongside Brooklyn MC MIKE, and a forthcoming set of live dates on the West Coast with King Krule in September.
