In-demand Paris/London-based artist and producer Sega Bodega shares new single “Set Me Free, I’m an Animal.” The single comes alongside a stunning music video directed by Claire & Rick Farin (Actual Objects), as well as the announcement of Sega’s upcoming EU festival dates.
“Set Me Free, I’m an Animal” explores intense feelings brought on by physical and emotional restraint. The official video by Actual Objects (production credits include Caroline Polachek, Charli XCX, Yves Tumor) translates the sentiment of feeling trapped in a situation that you can’t control, into a beautiful visual scenario. The third offering from his upcoming solo album project due later this spring, “Set Me Free, I’m An Animal,” follows previously released single “Deer Teeth,” a biting cut of left-field electronica and a successful string of critically acclaimed production work for artists like Shygirl, Caroline Polachek, and Eartheater among others.
Born in Ireland, raised in Glasgow, and now based in Paris, producer, performer, and label head Sega Bodega – AKA Salvador Navarrete – has built a reputation as one of the UK’s most innovative and precocious creative minds. His impact spans music, fashion, and film, soundtracking some of the most important cultural moments in recent years, as well as building a catalog of solo releases that traverse genre, style, and composition.
His last full release – 2021’s Romeo – showcases an otherworldly production style that has marked him as a pioneer within the alternative and electronic worlds. A true multi-hyphenate, alongside his two solo albums, Bodega has been a crucial hand in countless projects over the past decade, from the development of artists under his NUXXE label to production for other artists, and work with fashion brands such as Bottega Veneta and Nike. In late 2022, Sega released the 6Music playlisted single “Kepko” closely followed by a remix of Björk’s “Ovule” in early 2023. Currently, Sega Bodega is mid-way through an 8-week Lose Yourself with..
