A song about being ghosted after the most romantic date of your life.
Jess celebrates the single on Thursday 20th March with a release party at Vaulty Towers, Waterloo – the pub where she went on the fateful date that inspired the song…
Out Wednesday 19th March via Mahogany Songs
Her first release in over two years, arriving via Mahogany Songs, Radio Silence showcases Jess’ evolution since her last releases. Her signature vivid story-telling, tongue in cheek lyrics and sultry vocals are still centre stage, whilst production by new collaborator Duncan Pym (Amethyst, Nia Wyn, Litany) brings a new, soulful edge that lets her voice really shine. Inspired by the likes of Olivia Dean, MRCY, and Clairo, the mature, polished feel of Radio Silence indicates that her time away in the studio has been well spent. The track is mixed by Jess Camilleri (Mahalia, All Day Breakfast Cafe) and mastered by Izzy McPhee (Dream Wife, Walt Disco).
Speaking about the track, Jess elaborates:
“I think ghosting is one of the worst things you can do when dating someone, but unfortunately it’s all too common! The main thing to remember is that it’s a reflection on the ghoster, not the ghostee – so I wanted to write a song that took the power back. You ghosted me? Cool. I’m still great and it’s just a bit embarrassing for you that you didn’t have the courage to be honest. It’s tongue in cheek and relatable, with a chorus I hope sticks in your head.”
Always one to commit to the bit, Jess is throwing a release party for the single at Vaulty Towers in Waterloo on Thursday 20th March… the pub where she went on the fateful date that inspired the song. With live music, a DJ set from Zoe from rising pop band Szou, drinks and a celebration cake, tickets are here.
