RISING BRAZILIAN ARTIST MILA JOURNÉE LINKS WITH FRENCH MAINSTAYS OLIVIER GIACOMOTTO AND KIKO ON ‘TROMBE’

Out now on Truesoul – get it HERE

A captivating collaboration lands on Truesoul as rising Brazilian artist Mila Journée links with French mainstays Olivier Giacomotto and Kiko.

We got our first taste of Olivier Giacomotto on Truesoul via the recent ‘The Wall in the Mirror’ collab with Fur Coat back in May, an unquestionable 2024 release highlight. Kiko is a legend of the French scene and a frequent collaborator with Giacomotto, the pair linking for releases on Watergate Records and Noir, among others.

Mila Journée meanwhile has been bubbling up in recent times, with EPs on Diynamic (‘Serendipity’ and ‘No Es No’) plus recent and upcoming shows at Time Warp, Hï Ibiza and Pacha Ibiza. Last year she released the excellent ‘Closer To You’ with Kiko on Stil Von Talent.

While all artists have crossed paths previously, Truesoul is proud to debut their first collaboration as a trio. Describing Mila’s sound as “fresh, wild and surprising”, Giacomotto was excited to work with her. The lead track ‘Trombe’ encapsulates this inspiring energy, built around a flurry of head-mangling effects, horn leads and a propulsive b-line and percussion. ‘It’s Not Real’ is a super fun electro jam that delights in scribbling outside the lines, as the track’s main riff gets run through a series of thrilling tempo changes and distortions. An absolute gem of a production that recently featured in her Hot Mix on Pete Tong BBC Radio 1 show.

“Olivier and Kiko are two producers whom I admire and enjoy to work with because we have a great connection. When I sent them the ideas for the tracks, they got on board straight away! They are the kind of producers who don’t cut your vibe – they follow through on your madness and go even wilder!” – Mila Journée
