With their hotly-tipped new collection ‘The Mezz EP’ set to land in just a few days, Oxford’s The Mezz are now delivering the final cut to be lifted from their forthcoming EP, the anthemic opening single “Now I Found You”.
Much like the previously unveiled efforts “Bridges” and “Harbour The Feeling” in recent months, which have since found support with BBC Introducing and Radio X’s John Kennedy, “Now I Found You” sees the four-piece returning to those energetic indie-pop ideals that have cemented them as one of the more exciting names on the rise right now. Beaming with this bright and euphoric aesthetic throughout, this new outing marks one of their most impactful offerings to date.
Speaking about their latest offering, they said, “For the third single we really wanted to push our sound as a band. It’s the first time we have leaned heavily on synth wave/80s pop inspired music. In terms of the lyrics, after releasing two singles about self-worth and online personas I wanted this song to be very cut and dry. A very clear and simple view on love. Finding someone that brings you back to life and makes you feel free from all the world’s problems. It’s a very epic celebratory anthem that I hope many people can relate to!“
2023 was a landmark year for Oxford’s indie-pop prodigies, The Mezz. Fresh off the success of their debut EP ‘Avoid the Panic‘, they’ve been riding the wave as BBC Introducing’s artist in residence. Their journey, however, is more than just a meteoric rise; it’s a saga of resilience, unity, and music that speaks to the soul.
In the midst of their ascent, adversity struck. Drummer Charlie faced a harrowing battle with bowel cancer, putting the band’s future in jeopardy. But The Mezz turned tragedy into tenacity. With each other and their fanbase’s support, they stood firm; emerging stronger and more connected.
Their music encapsulates this triumphant narrative. These aren’t just catchy indie-pop songs; they’re the soundtracks of perseverance and hope.
As 2024 unfolds, The Mezz stands as more than just a band. They’re a symbol of enduring human spirit and the healing power of music. Their journey is just hitting its stride, and their songs continue to light the way through life’s tumult.
And there’s more! Having recently played their biggest London headline show, The Mezz are set for a monumental hometown EP launch party in Oxford on March 8th as well as playing Glasgow’s Classic Grand on April 26th. Be there to experience the magic live at:
