WHY LAWD? OUT JUNE 7TH VIA STONES THROW RECORDS
Today, Anderson .Paak and Knxwledge’s duo NxWorries shares the album art and tracklist from their forthcoming sophomore album Why Lawd? due June 7th, nearly 8 years after the release of their cult classic debut album Yes Lawd!. The album will be released physically on June 7th and digitally on June 14th via Stones Throw Records
Since the release of NxWorries’ debut, .Paak has achieved global superstardom and multiple Grammy wins as half of Silk Sonic with Bruno Mars. Simultaneously, Knx has continued to be one of music’s most prolific producers working with artists such as Action Bronson, Khruangbin, Westside Gunn, and Ghostface Killah, all the while releasing around a dozen of his own beat tapes per year. In 2020, .Paak and Knx debuted “Where I Go” at a live-streamed show in 2020, followed by an official feature from Grammy-award-winning artist H.E.R. in 2022. The duo then kicked off their first European tour and festival dates in Asia with their 2023 single “Daydreaming.” Now, they’ve reunited for a new full-length project with their new single “86Sentra” as a taste of what’s to come.
While their debut was strictly a duo affair, for Why Lawd? NxWorries have invited some friends to collaborate: Thundercat, Snoop Dogg & October London, Earl Sweatshirt, Rae Khalil, and many more. .Paak was serious when he rapped on “86Sentra”: “Go on and get your Teflon vest on but once we let off this tracklist / That shit gon’ blow your chest off.”
The album is available to pre-order on standard and colored vinyl, along with a special 2LP audiophile edition and 2LP with an alternative cover designed by Rhymezlikedimez – the last exclusive to Stones Throw – plus limited cassette and CD. Digital will follow one week later.
NxWorries’ cult hit “Suede” launched the career of Anderson .Paak, while Knxwledge has been upholding Stones Throw’s beatmaker legacy ever since he debuted on the label with Hud Dreems in 2015. Why Lawd? marks a full circle: two artists at the top of their game whose collaboration is more than the sum of its parts.
