Norwegian award-winning artist, Delara, is not afraid to be who she is. Proving just that, she releases her single “Unbound”. A proud nod to her persian heritage, the track is enveloped in enigmatic swirls of middle-eastern-inspired whirs as its homes her profound tale of human emotion and connection.

Born in Sweden before moving to Norway as a small child, Delara was raised by Iranian parents and has a conflicted relationship with her heritage. While feeling intrinsically linked to Iran, she is an outspoken critic of the current political regime and joined an Amnesty International affiliated protest outside the Norwegian Parliament building in Oslo in 2022 following the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in custody of the hijab police for “inappropriate clothing.” This push and pull of loving a country and its people, the Persian poetry that informs her writing too, while also feeling alienated from the way in which it is governed, is felt across her current musical incarnation.
