THE LP FEATURES SEAN PAUL, SEYI VIBEZ, ZLATAN, BLAQBONEZ, KIZZ DANIEL, DON JAZZY & MORE
Today (Friday 12th April) Young Jonn, the trailblazing Nigerian artist and producer, continues his red hot-streak with the release of his highly anticipated debut album, ‘Jiggy Forever’.
One of the most exciting breakout talents within Afrobeats in recent years, Jiggy Forever is an expansive 16-track exploration that transports listeners into the producer-turned-singer’s world across different physical, emotional, and sonic landscapes. Featuring recent heavy-hitting singles ‘Aquafina’, ‘Go Hard’, ‘Sharpally’ and ‘Big Big Things’ feat. Kizz Daniel & Seyi Vibez, the LP boldy strikes the ideal balance between romantic yearnings and party anthems.
Speaking on the album’s creation, Young Jonn says: “This album is really special to me. I feel like most people don’t really know who I am. They just have an idea, but this project uncovers the real me. Each track is like a snapshot of life’s roller coaster, touching on love, hustle, and finding my way in a world that sometimes feels upside down.”
No stranger to all-star link ups, in typical fashion ‘Jiggy Forever’ boasts an exceptional lineup of heavyweight talent, featuring collaborations with Sean Paul, Kizz Daniel, Seyi Vibes, Blaqbonez, Zlatan, Don Jazzy and Ya Levis that exemplify Young Jonn’s ability to shine amongst the diaspora’s elite. LP opener ‘Tony Montana’ offers a charismatic introduction as he likens himself to the mafia legend, whilst ‘Pot Of Gold’ incorporates South-East Asian percussion with an Amapiano log drum as he questions if he’ll ever find his true love. ‘Bahamas’ picks up the pace on a fun and feelgood production, whilst the Magicsticks-produced ‘Aquafina’ see’s him channel his inner Romeo as he laments the lack of love experienced in a one sided relationship.
Recent hit ‘Big Big Things’ continues to ooze star quality as alongside Kizz Daniel and street-hop sensation Seyi Vibes the chorus paints a picture of three artists who are now evidently onto “big big things.” ‘Bucket List’ switches up the vibes into warmer territory, whilst the bouncy yet smooth cut ‘Showcase’ see’s Young Jonn go toe-to-toe with much-loved Nigerian rap maestro Blaqbonez. ‘Jeje’, meaning “gentle” in Yoruba, is an Amapiano-infused love anthem with an infectious melody, whilst the Ragee (of Davido ‘Unavailable’ fame) produced ‘Stronger’ is a touching track dedicated to his late mother, with her passing leading to his determination to unlock his potential as a successful artist in his own right.
The 29 year old moves from the depths of love and longing in the Caribbean Islands with Jamaican legend Sean Paul on the warm and tender ‘Hold On’, whilst on the infectious ‘Maya Maya’ Young Jonn enlists French-based Congolese sensation Ya Levis for a stylistic offering detailing a young, whirlwind romance.
Next up is the thrills and grandeur of financial success on the streets of Nigeria’s capital city Lagos with revered rapper Zlatan on the high-octane ‘50 Million’. ‘Full My Tank’ hones in on the potential of a gorgeous love interest alongside Mavin Records head honcho Don Jazzy.
One of the pioneers at the forefront of the Nigerian music scene, the Lagos-based artist originally made his name as the producer behind hits for Olamide, Naira Marley, Davido, Tiwa Savage and Zinoleesky amongst others, becoming one of the most in-demand producers, winning a flurry of awards and being nicknamed ‘The Wicked Producer’ in the process. Stepping out of the shadows and signing a record deal with Nigeria’s foremost record label Chocolate City Music in 2021, he wasted no time in making his presence felt as an artist with debut single ‘Dada’ off his first EP ‘Love Is Not Enough’ – becoming an instant smash and leading to Davido jumping on the remix.
