This year’s most fun and funky EP, jam-packed with disco flavours, arrives along with the new highly danceable single, ‘CHIKI’
Never Dull’s highly anticipated ‘STARLIGHT’ EP arrives via Lick My Disco on 26th July. Effortlessly showing how “disco house can be bold and daring in 2024”, it includes the club-ready new single, ‘CHIKI’ and two more unheard tunes.
Over six incredible peak-time tracks, the San Diego-born producer blends disco and funk with house and garage, sporadically injecting Latin elements inspired by his Mexican American heritage.
“STARLIGHT includes all my favourite genres and sounds, ranging from disco, classic house, indie dance and soul,” says Never Dull. “Most of these songs capture the lesser-known side of these genres to try and create something unique and interesting but danceable. I want to show that disco house can be bold and daring in 2024.”
“Bold and daring” is unquestionably the vibe on ‘STARLIGHT’, an EP oozing with character. May’s single ‘MUY FINITO’ incorporates searing Spanish vocals into a 70’s-style sound reminiscent of classic disco. June’s single, ‘BONKERS’ – a loopy disco anthem with a mega breakdown, deep bassline riff, sparkling synth and vibrant percussion was followed by July’s single, the garage-inspired ‘I Don’t Mind’, which pairs garage drums with Never Dull’s seductive vocals and smatterings of saxophone.
Never Dull unveils focus single ‘CHIKI’ alongside two more unheard tracks from the EP, the sample-focused ‘LOVE WILL’ and ‘SABOR’. ‘CHIKI’ perfectly captures the EP’s genre-blending and global influences. With a vintage disco bass riff, house chords, a Latin-style vocal, and a modern techy synth line, it’s a track made to light up any dancefloor. ‘LOVE WILL’ is a delicious disco house number with a churning, filtered disco sample. Finally, ‘SABOR’ rounds off the EP with a looping, party-starting percussive Latin-funk sample at its core. A surefire tool that can start an explosive fiesta on the dancefloor.
Born and raised in San Diego, Never Dull fuses his Mexican American heritage with Californian vibes to craft a unique disco house/nu-disco sound. Since 2017, he’s released over 100 official tracks, gaining support from industry giants such as Disclosure, Dom Dolla, John Summit, and The Blessed Madonna. He’s also made a name for himself creating club-friendly edits of the likes of Ice Spice, Tyler, The Creator and Rosalía.
