NAMIBIAN PRODUCER GINA JEANZ GIVES JOYOUS HOUSE ENERGY ON NEW SINGLE ‘LIGHT MY FIRE’

With a fiery track full of Latin and Afro influences, the celestial Zurich-based producer brings the party down to earth

Namibian producer Gina Jeanz comes through with a dose of uplifting afro house magic with her new single, ‘Light My Fire’, out on 27th September via her own label, Temper Tone.

Light My Fire’ is a fiesta for the ears. Brass bursts to life while piano keys noodle over the track’s percussive afro house beat. To top it all off, an energising vocal ties it together, making for a hands-in-the-air dancefloor anthem.

Since 2019, Namibian-born, Zurich-based DJ, producer and artist Gina Jeanz has been lighting up dancefloors with an irresistible house sound that dips into broken beat and melodic techno territory, and ties in influences in amapiano, kwaito, electro-cumbia and R&B. This sound is stamped proudly with Gina’s larger-than-life personality, and, as an all-round creative with a background in graphic design, comes accompanied by self-made artworks revolving around images of outer space, reflecting the celestial themes explored in her music.

In March, Gina caused a stir with her single ‘Take Me’, out on Temper Tone, a techy and epic melodic techno jam exploring themes of flying to the moon through outer space. German duo MANQO lifted the track to further reaches of space in April when they provided a shuffling reshaping of the track, now sitting at over 170,000 streams on Spotify. Gina’s debut album ‘Lucid Theory’ was released in 2021, blending electronic, house, and afro-futuristic sounds with soulful vocals and intricate production. Including collaborations with artists like Jordan Baker and MOONGA K., the album explores themes of self-discovery and resilience through a range of genres laced with lush synths and atmospheric soundscapes. Her album landed her a spot on Billboard Best new Dance tracks. In 2020, Gina was asked to take part in Red Bull’s ‘Made in 72 Hours’ EP project, collaborating with rappers Hersh and Juzzy, resulting in their track ‘Tonight’ being released alongside artists like Lazarusman and Moonchild Sanelly.

Gina’s style has caught the attention of various radio stations and publications, including, as mentioned, Red BullGQ and BBC 1Xtra. A crowd-rousing performer, she’s DJed at major festivals including Rocking the Daisies and Ultra South Africa, Caprices, UNUM, Amnesia Opening Ibiza, Street Parade Zurich closing for Shimza at Cercle and her productions have been featured in Spotify’s ‘Africa Rising’ and Apple Music‘s ‘New Artist Spotlight’, amassing millions of streams and earning a growing global fanbase.

Carnival may be over, but ‘Light My Fire’ keeps the party going. A fun-loving house track to bring summer to a sizzling close, it needs to be played loud and with a room full of friends.
