SOPHCORE EP DUE AUGUST 2ND VIA TUNTUM

Moses Sumney announces a new EP, Sophcore, set for release via his own Tuntum label on August 2nd. Sophcore features Moses’ recent single “Vintage” as well as new song “Gold Coast,” which arrives today alongside a stunning visualizer featuring Moses’s silhouette.

The song further illustrates Moses’ musical evolution, with both it and “Vintage” embracing R&B elements more overtly than previously seen in Moses’ catalog without sacrificing the truly singular voice for which he has built a reputation. Sophcore represents Moses’ first new body of music since 2020’s critically-acclaimed double album græ and 2021’s Live from Blackalachia, which were praised by the likes of Entertainment Weekly, Los Angeles Times, New York Times, NPR, Pitchfork, Variety, and more.

Speaking about the EP, Moses shares: “Sophcore explores the meeting points between sensuality and intuition … esotericism and populism … deep feeling and fun. It’s diving into subterranean rhythm, bass and drums, and making music for the hips as well as the heart.”

Sophcore‘s announcement arrives on the heels of the release of MaXXXine, the Ti-West directed A24 film in which Moses stars alongside Mia Goth, Kevin Bacon, Halsey and more, that released this past Friday. Moses has already been praised by The Hollywood Reporter for his “easygoing appeal” in the film and The New York Times praised MaXXXine for its ability to be “funny, occasionally wistful and deeply empathetic” in its Critic’s Pick review of the film.
