“DESERVE” AND “ENERGY” OUT NOW
dj gummy bear, the shrouded musical character created by Montell Fish, shares two new songs packaged together as “deserve/energy”. Produced and performed solely by dj gummy bear, these two new tracks offer an expanded sense of the character’s musical identity, which Montell describes as representing, “a younger version of myself who was filled with faith and curiosity.”
Both “deserve” and “energy” are tenderly written songs about connection, with soft vocals and enveloping production that provide a sense of the musical direction that dj gummy bear is breaking into this year with more music to come.
Created as one of the many characters Montell uses in his work to explore past feelings and experiences through music, dj gummy bear retains some of Montell’s intricate alternative sounds while exploring more ambient and electronic production. Montell first introduced dj gummy bear with the single “2 Seater,” amongst several others, which was followed by a more direct connection back to Montell with Intercession Before Charlotte, an EP released last year that placed gummy bear and Montell in direct conversation with one another.
Framed as a prophet in the lore that surrounds the character, dj gummy bear engages in an internal dialogue with Montell about faith, fame, expectations, and the relationships surrounding them to contextualize the release of Montell’s sophomore album CHARLOTTE.
