Following the release of her album The Breeze Grew a Fire, Mereba is back to announce her European tour. Launching this September, the tour will kick off in Glasgow with later dates in Manchester, London, Paris, and Amsterdam before wrapping up in Berlin. In addition to news of the European leg, Mereba shares that she will now be joined by French-Senegalese artist anaiis, who will open for the singer on her Chicago through Los Angeles dates. Very soon, Mereba will also be announcing new U.S. show dates in Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, Austin, Santa Fe, Phoenix and San Diego. In celebration of the tour news, Mereba shares a live VEVO session of the album’s lead single “Counterfeit” out now.
Released this past February, The Breeze Grew a Fire was written entirely by Mereba and produced by Mereba with the help of Sam Hoffman and Kibrom Birhane. Rooted in fresh lived experiences and early musical influences, the album explores themes of reconnection and maternal intuition. Across its tracklist, Mereba finds new space to express her truest self.
Reflecting on the early stages of The Breeze Grew a Fire, Mereba shares: “For this [album], it went back to me being on my own for the creation of a lot of the songs, and it was really important for me at this time of life because I was a little disconnected from the world, and from who I was. So I was trying to find my way back to myself first. What do I like? What do I want to hear? What do I want to say to people now?”
The album’s creation was shaped by meaningful memories and places – from Atlanta to L.A., Addis Ababa to Greensboro – infusing the project with a fluid, folklore-like warmth. Longtime collaborator Sam Hoffman helped bring Mereba’s vision to life through rich, textured production that mirrors the emotional depth of the songwriting.
