Embracing their celebrated resilience, Manchester’s burgeoning rap duo Fieves share their highly awaited EP, ‘Between Hello & Goodbye’. Spread across five masterful tracks that each raise challenges experienced in everyday life, the duo follow up from a line of successful releases including “Loss Is Loss”, “Million Faces”, and “What Can I Say”. Creating a sound that is loved by many across the nation, ‘Between Hello & Goodbye’ is a significant milestone in their promising career ahead.
Structuring the intricacy of the human experience through skilful lyricism, Fieves weave elements of UK Hip-Hop and conscious rap over blissful backdrops, forming a comforting familiarity speckled with depth and emotion. Exploring themes of introspection, growth, connection, and addiction, ‘Between Hello & Goodbye’ emphasizes Fieves’ experimental edge. Not one to shy away from textured production, the duo flaunt their ability to form deeper connections with a growing audience through the use of candid lyrical content.
From the poignant reflection of “What Can I Say”; an introspective look into addiction and the challenges of redemption and maneuvering forgiveness, to the reality of grief and personal resilience that are tested throughout “Loss Is Loss”. The boys explore personal growth and the complexities of family bonds and nostalgia in “Steps”, before confronting the idea of identity and finding your life’s purpose in “Million Faces”, alongside rising songstress Nyah Grace. Locating solace in sonder throughout “All We Do Is Talk”, ‘Between Hello & Goodbye’ is a project enriched with substance and profound versatility.
When asked about the inspiration behind the EP, Fieves explained, “Between Hello and Goodbye” explores our personal stories as young men trying to find our way in the ever-changing landscape of modern Britain. Tackling themes of addiction, loss and heartbreak as well as new steps and challenges, we hope that people are able to resonate with its messages no matter their background or stage in life. For us, this is everything in between hello and goodbye.”
Formed by rapper Finnerz and producer DJ Yves Jones, the creative duo behind Fieves emerged back in 2021 throughout a time where the world shut down. Brushing the conformities of genres aside, Fieves appeared with the intention of constructing a genre-bending sound that has since made an impact past their Northern home city of Manchester. Blending conscious rap with an assortment of genres including Dance and UK Hip-Hop, Finnerz and DJ Yves Jones have already made quite the impression.
Accumulating accolades from BBC Radio 1, KISS Fresh, ASBO Magazine, Mixtape Madness, Oculate, BBC 6 Music, and more, the duo have performed at YES Basement, Wilsons Social, Deaf Institute, The Mouse Outfit, Band on the Wall and collaborated with Red Bull for a street rave in Manchester. Hosting a series named Barz in Carz, Fieves provides a space for emerging and established talent to showcase their skills online, not to mention the pair have previously listed on Spotify’s acclaimed ‘Dazed’, ‘Just Dropped’, and ‘We Are Manchester’ playlists. Further solidifying themselves as trailblazers within British music, ‘Between Hello & Goodbye’ is a remarkable EP that reflects both trajectory and unrivaled authenticity.
