Today, Liv.e shares a new video for “Poor Daddy,” one of the standout tracks on her surprise synthwave project PAST FUTUR.e, released earlier this year. The new visual is shot, directed and edited by Māori-Canadian director Mackai Sharp, who also directed the visual for “MASHED FEELINGS / $$$$ $” during her recent visit to Paris to perform at KALEIDOSCOPE’s MANIFESTO event. With both visuals from PAST FUTUR.e, Liv.e and Mackai encapsulate the bold, experimental vision that Liv.e brought to this surprise project that she fully wrote and produced herself.

PAST FUTUR.e is an unexpected departure from the accomplished sound Liv.e has honed with her first two albums, embracing synthwave and molding it in her image, proving her limitless range as a musician. This past weekend, she made surprise appearances at the Camp Flog Gnaw festival in support of André 3000 and Earl Sweatshirt.

PAST FUTURE.e first arrived as a Bandcamp-exclusive independent release in March, following a breakout year in 2023 with her widely-celebrated sophomore album, Girl In The Half Pearl. The album marked a significant milestone in Liv.e’s personal and creative journey, receiving praise from Billboard, Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Vulture and more, building upon the foundation laid by her debut album Couldn’t Wait To Tell You…. The immersive soundscape of GITHP captured Liv.e’s process of growth, forgiveness, and reclamation of her sense of womanhood.
