The track marks Hart’s welcome label debut
Lawrence Hart and Giulia Tess’ “Trust” is not just club-ready but club-essential. This fast, upbeat, needle-sharp production layers breaksy beats, pitch-shifted/multi-tracked vocal, pizzicato-style synth melodies and some throbbing bass reverb to add shade – plus two drops to cause ravers both agony and ecstasy.
“Trust” is the first time that Hart and Tess have collaborated together. Says Hart: “I’ve been a big fan of Giulia since her ‘200417’ EP so she was the first person I thought of to remix a track from my Music For Dark Spaces EP, “First Light”. She told me she was a fan of my music also, so this new collab seemed inevitable. Our instant synergy in the studio meant “Trust” was completed in one day.”
“Making music with Lawrence felt very special from the first time we were in the studio together. There was alchemy right away, and our ideas merged from the get-go’ Tess says. ‘I admire him artistically and care for him very much. I feel this is reflected in this release.”

Italy-born London-based DJ and producer Giulia Tess is a valued part of the London underground scene, with a Rinse FM residency and sets at venues like Fabric, Phonox, Field Day and with support from BBC, NTS, DJ Mag and Mixmag to name a few. Tess pulls the sonority of leftfield electronica into the side of percussive music in a refreshing and effortless way. Codifying the variety of influences trapped within Giulia Tess is like a journey through a maze: challenging, thrilling and yet, rewarding in the end. She’s worked with Max Cooper, Ross From Friends, Art School Girlfriend, with releases on established labels such as Mesh, LG105 (her recent mini LP ‘Serie A’), He.She.They and more.
