KJ SPIO ENLISTS HIT-MAKERS HARMONIZE & KONSHENS FOR GENRE-BENDING ANTHEM “MESSI”

PRODUCED BY GRAMMY-AWARD WINNING IZY BEATS [JORJA SMITH, KOFFEE, REMA, ALICIA KEYS]

“…as we witness KJ Spio bring the realms of R&B and Afropop together.” – NOTION

“..he undoubtably lives up to his Instagram tagline “culturepreneur.” – New Wave Magazine

Following a string of unrivalled releases with Sarkodie, Oxlade, Ambré, Harmonize, and Libianca of which gained support from COLORS, Ones To Watch, Ministry of Sound and more. KJ Spio is continuing to solidify his one-to-watch status with his latest track, “Messi”. Enlisting Harmonize and Konshens, this feel-good anthem is a taste of summer.

Produced by Grammy-award winning Izy Beats [Jorja Smith, Rema, Koffee, Masego, Alicia Keys, etc] “Messi” is welcomed with a percussive instrumental that blends Afrobeats, Dancehall and Amapiano in one. Taking turns to glaze the beat with their buttery vocals, both Konshens [collaborated with Cardi B, Pitbull, Doja Cat, Major Lazer & more] and Harmonize [collaborated with Burna Boy, Ibraah, Phyno, Yemi Alade, Sarkodie, Mr Eazi & more] unite for a wheel-up worthy anthem. Paired with a set of Lux London-directed [Tems, Central Cee, Ice Spice] visuals, we follow the trio around a poker game-turned house party, correlating with the spirited energy fuelling the track.

ABOUT KJ SPIO
Acclaimed culturepreneur KJ Spio is a one-man mood enhancer – a musical multi-hyphenate devoted to upping the ambiance of whatever social situation you might find yourself in. “I’m all about creating a vibe that helps people have fun and enjoy themselves, whether they’re at a party or somewhere more intimate,” smiles the Ghana-born artist.

“Wait,” you might be wondering: “what’s a culturepreneur”? For Spio, the term reflects the ever-changing role he’s held down in the UK and African music industries for almost a decade now, pushing the culture forward in whatever new and exciting ways he can dream up. Sometimes, that has meant managing artists like late great British talent Cadet, whose single ‘Advice’ he helped become a platinum smash independently with over 250m streams. Other times, that has meant creative-directing and A&R for superstars like Ghanian icon Sarkodie, whose first ever virtual concert, performing at the country’s historic Independence Square, broke records for live streams. Genre doesn’t matter – only authenticity. “If it’s not progressive to the collective culture, I don’t do it,” insists the hitmaker, who began his journey in the music industry as road manager-turned-content creator for UK rap hero Big Narstie and hasn’t stopped hustling for the music scene he adores since.

ABOUT KONSHENS
Konshens is the voice behind many of the biggest dancehall anthems of all-time. A specialist in so-called gyal tunes, hits like “Gal a Bubble” and “Bruk Off Yuh Back” are absolute essentials of the genre, capable of sending dancers into a frenzy the moment they play in a party. But there’s more to Konshens than one sound. As collaborations with Nipsey Hussle, The Chainsmokers, Cardi B, Major Lazer, Rick Ross, Nicky Jam, Doja Cat, Enrique Iglesias, E-40, Eve, Jamie XX, Farruko, Pitbull and Clean Bandit attest, he’s an artist whose talents can’t be boxed in. A constant presence in the Caribbean music space for the last decade.
