Nine years after the release of his GRAMMY, BRIT, Ivor Novello and Mercury Music Prize nominated debut album ‘In Colour’, London musician, DJ and producer Jamie xx today announces his highly anticipated second album. The album, titled ‘In Waves‘, will be released on September 20, 2024 via Young/Beggars.
‘In Waves‘ will be released digitally, on CD and in multiple vinyl formats. A Deluxe LP will include a bonus 12″ featuring previous singles “It’s So Good”, “KILL DEM” and “LET’S DO IT AGAIN”, plus two exclusive new songs: “F U (ft. Erykah Badu)” and “Do Something” .
To celebrate the news, Jamie xx today releases the stirring new single “Treat Each Other Right“. A track that, like all the music on the album, has been tested during Jamie xx DJ sets over the years, with Jamie carefully gauging the audience’s reactions and further refining the drive. Jamie collaborated with photographer and filmmaker Rosie Marks for the video for “Treat Each Other Right.” Watch the video below.
‘In Waves‘ includes “Baddy On The Floor“, his cheerful summer collaboration with Honey Dijon. There are also collaborations with Robyn, The Avalanches, Kelsey Lu, John Glacier and Panda Bear, Oona Doherty and his The xx bandmates Romy and Oliver Sim. Created over a four-year period, heralded by his beloved 2020 Essential Mix and infused with periods of self-reflection, a global pandemic, producing Oliver Sims’ debut solo album and a new-found love of surfing as an escape, it’s an album that is on track to surpass the heights of its globally acclaimed predecessor.
Jamie recently launched the album during his The Floor residency, which took place at South East London’s Venue MOT from May 16 to 25. The series of intimate, 300-person capacity events saw him perform at ten consecutive parties, along with a secret, personally curated line-up of collaborators and friends who were only announced on the night itself. The bespoke club space was graced for ten nights by the likes of 2ManyDJs, Cooly G, Romy, Charli music, secret performances and one-off back-to-backs.
