With larger than life indie-pop anthems born of small town boredom, coming of age, big nights out and young love gone wrong, modernlove. are a new generation’s brightest hope.

The Irish pop-rock band modernlove. who are celebrated for their larger than life sound, have shared their first release of the year titled, “Don’t Feel Myself”. Following up from what was a ground-breaking 2023, going on a global headline tour across the UK, Europe, and America, the trail-blazers are back with vengeance, setting the score high for what’s set to be another successful year ahead.

Teaming up with long-time collaborator and producer Tom Leach (previously worked with rap riser AntsLive and Tribes), modernlove. stay true to their authenticity and all-round transparency as they explore a turbulent period of existential crisis and the questionable coping mechanisms that came alongside it. Wandering further into mental-health leaning themes, modernlove. are able to form a candid connection with their audience through the use of relatable storytelling and life experience via a youthful lens. Paired with an immense yet nostalgic production, Don’t Feel Myself provides escape sonically yet remains engaging with its contrasting lyrical substance.

When asked about the inspiration behind the song, modernlove.  explained, ”Don’t Feel Myself is about going through bouts of disassociation, existential crisis and having a crisis of identity compounded with unhealthy lifestyle choices and coping mechanisms. It explores these themes through an analogous story of a ‘mad night out’ in which we drunkenly stumble through a number of different shady settings and wrestle with all kinds of troubles/situations from panic attacks and derealisation to bursts of mania that inevitably end up in us being consumed with existential dread the morning after.”

The band went on to share, “Maybe it’s not so “analogous” if we’re being honest. The song recognises that these things we do to cope only give us fleeting moments of relief from what afflict us and end up feeding them in the end in a vicious cycle. They’re a temporary bandage on a much more permanent wound. Sonically, the song reflects this dynamic between the chaos and mania of a night out with heavy and rhythmic drum and bass, accompanied by dizzying guitar hooks that dance in circles in the chorus and the the verses which sober up and are much colder, more pensive and laden with a slow, sinking feeling.”

Made up of Barry Lally (vocalist and guitarist), Cian McCluskey (drummer), Daniel Rooney (bass), and Graham Fagan (guitarist), modernlove. are a group of childhood friends that grew up in Drogheda, near Dublin. The band of 20-somethings shared a common interest in music and drew from house-hold names including The 1975, The Japanese House, Bloc Party, The Cure, Franz Ferdinand, and more for inspiration. Since their 2021 emergence, the band have released a number of reputable singles including “Follow You”, “2 Missed Calls”, and more recently with “unfamiliar ceilings”, that have cemented their position as a one-to-watch band worldwide.

Housing recognition from HUNGER, Notion, MTV, The Line of Best Fit, Wonderland, Metal Mag, and BBC Radio 1, modernlove. have managed to accumulate millions of streams with an ever-growing fan base. Supporting The Vamps, Everything Everything, We Are Scientists and The Academic on tour,  getting invited to play for the President of Ireland, alongside shutting down a selection of festivals including the DORK stage at Live At Leeds, Latitude, Eurosonic (NL), Bumbershoot (US), and FingersUp (CZ), off the back of the 3 EP’s, it’s clear that modernlove. are gearing up for global domination.
