Ready for his debut EP in April, ICYKOF shifts into Detroit techno mode with new single ‘MOVE YOUR BODY’
Fashion-turned-techno tastemaker ICYKOF shares ‘MOVE YOUR BODY’, out on February 26th via his label RAVE NUIT, ready for his debut EP in April.
The single builds off the momentum of ICYKOF’s iconic acid-tinged ‘PAYDAY’, a rising club hit that’s already turning heads—praised as “hot” by Jennifer Loveless, “cute” by GiGi FM, and “sexy” by Laurent Garnier. It’s also been downloaded by DJ Bone, Marc Fareone, Truncate, Theo Nasa, HAAi and many more.
The fourth single ‘MOVE YOUR BODY’ taps further into Detroit inspirations; Underground Resistance, Steve Reich, Floorplan and more. Bassy toms and thumping 909 kicks lay the foundation, while a loopy bass synth riff whirs overhead. Pitched-down vocals take command, driving the track forward with a raw, warehouse-ready techno energy.
ICYKOF, AKA Kofi McCalla, is redefining himself as one of London’s most intriguing voices in electronic music. After taking a step back from the high-profile world of his Unknown Vlogs platform, where he chronicled streetwear culture right at the forefront of fashion, Kofi has found a new creative outlet rooted in the raw energy of underground electronic music.
His debut EP, ZERO SUGAR, drops in April with a special vinyl edition and accompanying visualiser content. It channels the rebellious spirit of Detroit’s industrial techno pioneers. Featuring raw, hypnotic cuts like ‘BRING IT BACK’ (+ Bambounou remix) and ‘SHE KNOWS’—remixed by NYC techno staple MoMa Ready—the EP fuses gritty warehouse grooves with pulsating percussion. ‘SHE KNOWS’ has already earned praise from tastemakers like Chloe Caillat, I.JORDAN, re:ni, HAAi, and Yu Su, with heavyweights like Josh Wink – who dubbed it “good ol’ NYC trippy house” – Ryan Elliott, Jerome Sydenham, and DJ Bone throwing their support behind it.
