As the release of her forthcoming sophomore album Perfect Picture, out October 6th via PC Music, approaches, London-based multidisciplinary artist Hannah Diamond shares her new single “Poster Girl.” With equally massive and intricate pop production, the new single provides a glimpse into the vulnerable and emotional territory Hannah Diamond explores on her forthcoming project.
Speaking about “Poster Girl,” Hannah Diamond shares, “This song is for everyone who has ever wished they could be more like the poster girl on their wall. It’s about questioning that shiny image and wondering whether their life really is as perfect as it seems, or if they’re more similar to you than you could ever imagine…”
Perfect Picture cascades across twelve glistening, experimental tracks including the recently shared title track, which arrived alongside a video directed by Christopher Tym, and the empowering anthem “Affirmations.” Following on from her critically-acclaimed 2019 full-length debut Reflections, which solidified Hannah’s popstar persona across the cultural digiscape, Perfect Picture – produced by David Gamson (Kesha, Chaka Khan, Charli XCX) – sees HD straddle the line between the mainstream and the underground. Exploring inward on and off the screen, in front and behind the camera, the album marks a new chapter for the artist, both sonically and as a performer. Hannah shares, “This album is more focused on who I am on the inside, a multi layered self portrait. I’m the girl you already know but grown up. I’m more self assured and exploring my dreams.”
Next month, Hannah Diamond will bring her live show to the physical realm in North America with headline shows in Montreal, two sold out dates in New York City, two dates in Los Angeles (second date sold out), and a sold out show in San Francisco. Following her time stateside, Hannah will head back to Europe to perform in Paris this November and Antwerp and London this December. Full routing can be found below and tickets are available HERE.
Operating between the extremes of the uncannily synthetic and the earnestly sincere, her music deconstructs notions of ‘pop perfection’ by offsetting crystal clear, high-definition production with intense vocal processing and unexpected lyrics and melody lines. “I’m really interested in the intersection between a person and their image – how we build these self portraits of ourselves in online spaces,” she explains.
