‘Damn’ is the truest kind R&B – kissed by the lonely swing of a mellow blues. The chord voicings provide a perfect bed for Jerome’s most professional harmony structuring and tailored songwriting to date as he continues to expose his emerging ingenuity as an artist.
Jerome is constantly evolving his music, blurring the lines between neo-soul, RnB, jazz and funk. He has spent a lot of time refining his sound and expanding his vocal skills. As a result, he has created his own, recognizable style.
“I class my sound as F.O.E which stands for ‘freedom of expression’/ ‘fusion of everything‘”
With his EPs ‘Conversations‘ (2016) and ‘That Secret Sauce’ (2021) he cemented his name as one of the UK’s most dynamic and authentic voices.
After a relatively quiet 2022 with no releases on his part, the soul, r&b and jazz singer known for his soothing instrumentals and signature falsettos re-emerged in February at Amsterdam’s Oyster Festival that orientes on UK alternative R&B, hip-hop, neo-soul, grime, UK garage and electronic music.
“I can’t thank you enough for riding with me and being patient through this period, in all transparency 2022 was a hard year for me but outside of the external conflicts, my internal conversations weren’t the healthiest; specifically in how I spoke and thought about myself. ‘Damn’ is a open conversation between spirit and ego, I hope it touches you.”
A classic love jones, At first glance ‘Damn’ is a plea to an emotionally withdrawn lover for a kind word, when in fact our hero is pleading with his inner self.
