Internationally celebrated Afrobeats singer-songwriter Lojay is back with a brand-new single, ‘Somebody Like You’, produced by Grammy-nominated Sarz. The track is a laidback jam that combines easygoing chords, infectious percussion, and Lojay’s signature smooth vocals as he muses over the ideal love.
On ‘Somebody Like You’, Lojay delivers a heartfelt narrative that explores the themes of love, heartbreak, and healing. With lyrics like “What if I gave you love to my ceiling / What if I bought you a couple more reasons” and “I pray I find me a spiritual woman / But if I don’t I’ll use all my time / Just looking around for / Somebody like you”, the track captures the essence of longing and hope. The song’s dreamy production – crafted by longtime collaborator Sarz – paired with Lojay’s emotive vocals, creates a seamless blend of introspection and groove, offering a tantalising glimpse as the first official single off the Lagosians forthcoming debut album, currently in the works and set for release later this year.

This new single also marks the latest collaboration between Lojay and Sarz, the two-time GRAMMY-nominated producer who first joined forces with Lojay on his critically acclaimed debut EP ‘LV ‘N’ ATTN’, which spawned global hits like ‘Monalisa’, establishing them as a powerhouse pairing in the African music scene.
The release of ‘Somebody Like You’ comes hot on the heels of Lojay’s recent GRAMMY nomination for ‘Sensational’, alongside global superstars Chris Brown and Davido, and his surprise appearance during Chris Brown’s sold-out show in South Africa in December, performing to a massive crowd of 100,000 fans over two dates.
