Visionary artist Empara Mi continues to push sonic and visual boundaries with her latest release, ‘Masochist’, the second chapter in the unfolding narrative of her upcoming album, ‘Monsters & Masochists’. A seamless fusion of raw emotion, avant-garde production, and visceral storytelling, ‘Masochist’ is a hypnotic plunge into obsession, pain, and self-destruction.
Designed as an immersive journey through grief, ‘Monsters & Masochists’ unfolds in chapters, each embodying a different stage of loss and transformation. Where Chapter 1, ‘I Can’t’ mourned with quiet surrender, Chapter 2, ‘Masochist’ arrives with unrelenting force, an explosive embodiment of anger. The track pulses with haunting melodies & hypnotic synths, creating a sense of tension and allure that could only be described as cinematic electronica, this chapter unravels a narrative of reckless love and the need to destroy before being destroyed.
A true multidisciplinary artist, Empara Mi has always approached music as a full-body experience, where sound, movement, and aesthetic are woven into one. Her visual storytelling is just as striking as her sonic world-building, a fact underscored by the ‘I Can’t’ video, which has amassed over 800k views in just two weeks, proving that her fans are just as captivated by her visuals as they are by her sound. With ‘Masochist’, she transcends again, melding her passion for martial arts with her music, reimagining herself as a sword-wielding warrior, both vulnerable and lethal, delicate and devastating.
A bold step into uncharted artistic terrain, ‘Masochist’ is bigger, darker, and more immersive than anything Empara Mi has crafted before. As ‘Monsters & Masochists’ continues to unfold, one thing is certain, this is only the beginning of her metamorphosis. Designed as an emotional odyssey, Empara Mi’s upcoming album is a complex, interwoven narrative where each song plays a vital role in an overarching story. ‘Monsters & Masochists’ is set to display the artist’s daring fusion of dark, heavy soundscapes and theatrical ballads, further solidifying her reputation as one of the most innovative voices around.
Speaking on the single. Empara Mi explains: “I always find writing music a very immersive experience, this song in particular I sort of went full ‘cinema’ on. I’ve always been very enamoured by the Bond movie soundtracks, so when I was writing this track I actually put up a bond trailer on YouTube, muted it and wrote the song so I could experience the character I was trying to become. My dream would be to actually do the song for bond but for now this can be my audition.”
Beyond soundmaker, Empara Mi is an artist of multiple dimensions. Her new single arrives with an appropriately vivid and expressive music video. The visionary artist delivers a fascinating slowburn that seeps under the audience’s skin and interacts with their subconscious. As captivating piano chords pulse through the intro and verse, the camera blurs into focus on Empara Mi symbolically emerging from darkness, with an enrapturing choreography that casts a spell on the viewer such that they sink into the powerful hypnosis of the music.
