“Serving up relatable contradicting emotions and the sounds of a true heartbreak anthem is alt-pop star Ellysse Mason” – WONDERLAND

Manchester’s rising singer-songwriter Ellysse Mason proves she’s keen to make an indelible mark in the 2024 soundscape with her first release of the year, “Cry Baby”. Reminiscent of a summer in ‘09, Ellysee Mason’s ability to create timeless music with her unapologetic stance and crisp vocal tone has rocketed her career significantly.

Bubble wrapped in a soaring alt-pop production, courtesy of Ed Graves at Rainbow Wood Studios, Cry Baby see’s Ellysee Mason reflecting on a relationship gone sour. Highlighting the emotional manipulation, and all-round lack of accountability from a previous partner whose red flags were off the charts, the Northern pop riser opens up on an intimate journey that’s taken profound personal strength and growth to overcome. Weaving a climatic chorus that’s speckled with acoustic greatness, in-between the heart-wrenching verses, “Cry Baby” is an anthem for those overcoming traumatic relationships. Drenched with pop elements that make for viral success, Ellysse Mason prepares supporters for the release of her forthcoming EP ‘Wish The World Was Ending’ dropping later this year on Rainbow Wood Records.

Speaking on the meaning behind the track, Ellysee Mason shared, “In a way writing “Cry Baby” was my CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). It helped me process and heal from the fallout left behind from that relationship. It also held up a mirror to me, and showed me where I’ve been self-destructive , why I attract those kinds of relationships and friendships, and why I couldn’t work out what was going wrong.”

Born and raised in the Northern city of Manchester, Ellysee Mason’s music captures the sounds of the 90’s and noughties seamlessly. Anchored with crunchy guitars and production that sits comfortably within alt-pop, the songstress has written songs for artists including Matt Wills, Rosa, Phoebe Hall, Ines Rae, and more, highlighting her lyrical excellence. Following her emergence in 2018, Ellysee Mason has since gained millions of streams throughout her diverse discography.

Accumulating previous support from Wonderland, The Line of Best Fit, BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6 Music, BBC Introducing Manchester, Amazing Radio, and more, alongside playlisting support from Spotify across ‘New Music Friday’, ‘New Pop UK’, ‘Morning Coffee’, and ‘Viral 50 UK’, Ellysse Mason has grown a following of over 650,000 followers across social platforms, emphasising her status as a force to be reckoned with. Previously supporting house-hold names including Tom Walker, Sam Ryder, Patrick Droney, Fickle Friends, Billy Locket, and modernlove. on tour, Ellysse Mason has built a reputation surrounding her dynamic and captivating live performances. With more music on the way, Ellysee Mason continues to prove why she’s an artist to watch.
