DYLAN CARTLIDGE MARKS EXCITING FRESH CHAPTER WITH EUPHORIC SINGLE ‘NEW DAY’

The acclaimed alternative artist from the North East returns with the first single from his upcoming second album ‘Lucky Shot’

Acclaimed polymath (singer, rapper, bass player, producer) Dylan Cartlidge, after making waves with his 2021 debut album Hope Above Adversity, is back with his new single, ‘New Day’. The first track on his anticipated upcoming album Lucky Shot, the single is out today.

New Day’ is soulful, uplifting and buoyant. Produced by the Ivor Novello-winning and Grammy-nominees Eg White (Adele, Florence + The Machine, Dua Lipa, Sam Smith) and mixed by Engine Earz (SZA, Stormzy, Gorillaz, Skepta, Jorja Smith), Dylan’s strong, compelling vocals join swelling strings and bright drum breaks, as he sings about stepping into unexplored chapters of his life, embracing change and “standing on his own two feet”.

In a rousing music video, shot in the vast, open seaside in Camber, East Sussex, on stunning 16mm film, ‘New Day’ comes to life visually. Check out the video below.

The release follows Dylan’s “life-affirming” (Clash Music) debut album Hope Above Adversitywhich received support across the industry including features in multiple Top 40 Alternative and AAA chart placements in the USA, plus support from the NY Times, which wrote “If the early Beck came from a small town in England, he’d sound like Dylan Cartlidge” and NME, who referred to the album as “a Beastie Boys record being warped in a microwave powered by sheer positivity”. Around the album, Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1 referred to Dylan as “uncategorisable,” which she found “very exciting in an artist”.

Dylan toured the album on a UK-wide 13-date headline tour in 2021, which followed shows at major festivals, including SXSWReading + LeedsGlastonbury and Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Middlesbrough in 2019. Along the way, Dylan has also gained praise from radio tastemakers including BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders, BBC 6 Music’s Huw Stephens and Apple Music’s Matt Wilkinson.

Hailing from the coastal town of Redcar in North-East England, Dylan Cartlidge’s sound reflects a journey of resilience and individuality. Raised in the care system, he faced childhood hardships, from instability to poverty. At 16, he made the life-changing decision to leave behind his past and rebuild, a remarkable story narrated in Hope Above Adversity, capturing his defiant spirit.

New Day’, out on November 27th, is the first preview from Dylan Cartlidge’s forthcoming 2025 LP, Lucky Shot, produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Neal H. Pogue (Outkast, Steve Lacy, Doja Cat). Arriving three years after his last, it represents the eagerly-awaited next chapter in this artist’s inspiring story.
