“One of the best in rap” – Complex
“At the heart of the UK drill movement since the offset” – Clash
“PS is one of the best in drill. He might be the best”- ProdbyWalkz
The greatest duo in drill are back! Having shaken up the drill scene with underground classics such as Petrol Station and Zoo Rock (clocking over 15m streams and views between the two), Peckham’s Drill icons have joined forces to drop potentially the best collab of their career to date.
Delivered over a cinematic, string laden beat Proton flips from PS Hitsquad’s unruly metaphors, taking in everything from Thomas Eddison to the Addams Family, to Kwengface’s swaggering provocations and gleeful malice. With utterly assured performances from two artists on top of their game, the single is a timely reminder of the power of raw UK Drill – and an ice cold rebuke to cheesy pop samples that have been infiltrating the scene of late. Instead, as the name suggests, Proton is a return to Drill’s founding principles; deep, speaker shattering beats, head spinning wordplay and vice-tight flows… The result is an instant classic.
Coming off the back of Kwengface’s breakthrough Colors performance & The Memoir mixtape, Proton itself announces PS’s highly anticipated debut mixtape, Community Service, set to drop on June 9th via Moves Recordings. Perhaps one of the most anticipated projects in UK Drill, the 13 track project is set to cement PS’s reputation as a once in a generation talent.
About PS Hitsquad
At 24 years old, PS Hitsquad has lived a hundred lifetimes. A founding member of one of UK Drill’s most influential collectives, Zone 2, he has streamed tens of millions across a run of singles, group cuts, solo bamgers and iconic freestyles widely considered to be amongst the best in his generation. He could have chosen football as a pathway, having had a spot at both Barnet and Millwall youth academies – but his youthful run-ins with the law put paid to that. This battle between unfiltered talent and fuck-you attitude has defined his career; torn between the street life and his art, with the conflict played out in his lyrics in real time. A chaotic and mercurial one-off, PS exists to remind his fans just how thrillingly unpredictable a true artist can be.
About Kwengface
After making his debut in the Famous London Drill scene in 2017 it was quite evident that Kwengface was to become untouchable within Drill. With his undoubtable presence, skippy flow & fierce energy on various tracks; Kwengface is a character who does nothing more but give us an insight on how to effortlessly flow against heavily compressed 808’s drums and some of the best composed drill instrumentals known to exist.
