Berlin-based indie/electro wave band reveal the new single out now via Iptamenos Discos, after recently announcing their new album ‘Girls Gang’, releasing January 24th ‘25

Berlin indie/electro wave trio Dina Summer unveil their new single ‘Schall & Rauch’, out now on Iptamenos Discos. This is the fourth track to be shared ahead of the group’s second album, ‘Girls Gang’, which arrives early next year.
‘Schall & Rauch’ (a German phrase meaning ‘sound and smoke’ ie. meaninglessness, immateriality; smoke and mirrors) is a track that has a powerful nostalgic yearning for what was, and what could have been. The lyrics are emotionally charged, representing the celestial beauty and destructive power that love can have. The fast-paced beat, expressive melody and harmonies bring an intense energy and induce a euphoric, yet melancholic sensation.
Dina Summer announced their new album ‘Girls Gang’ in September, following 2022’s incredible 10-track LP ‘Rimini’. Up until now, fans have been treated to three singles from it, the dreamy, Greece-inspired ‘Halkidiki’, the dancefloor-ready dedication to “outsiders and freaks”, ‘Alien’, and the LP’s title track, an uncompromising seductive banger dedicated to goth icons such as Morticia Addams and Elvira.
Made up of Kalipo, a member of the electro-punk band Frittenbude, and Local Suicide, a dynamic DJ and production duo who also head the Iptamenos Discos label, Dina Summer have built up quite the hype since forming in 2020. Their music, which includes hit tracks like ‘Who Am I’ and ‘Rimini’ has been described by Resident Advisor as “dark disco meets EBM”, the releases combined totalled over 3 million global streams. The band also achieved regular support from household names in the electronic scene such as DJ Hell and The Hacker, while also being played by the likes of Charlotte De Witte, Dixon, Joris Voorn, Joyce Muniz, and Dubfire.
At its core, Dina Summer’s sound is a nostalgic homage to vintage disco, fused with the gritty undertones of EBM, post-punk, and synth-wave. Their 2022 debut album, ‘Rimini’, followed by an incredible remix album in 2023, earned critical acclaim, building on the foundations laid by their 2021 EP ‘Who Am I’. This year, they continued evolving their retro-futuristic sound with the release of ‘Hide & Seek’, which followed 2023’s fine contribution to Curses’ ‘Next Wave Acid Punx DEUX’ compilation with the track ‘Darkness’.
The release of ‘Schall & Rauch’ is sure to be a welcomed single among Dina Summer’s adoring fans. As the release of the group’s much-anticipated second LP on 24th January edges closer, we can only wait and see what more deliciously dark, disco-tinged sonics Dina Summer have in store.
