Emerging rap star, NASAAN, is back with “Devil To Atlanta,” available now via Assemble Sound / Atlantic Records. The track – which sees the Detroit-based rapper taking the Lord of the Underworld on a tour of Atlanta, the city which raised him – is joined by a self-directed official music video premiering today on YouTube.
“Devil To Atlanta” precedes NASAAN’s upcoming mixtape, ERROR 404, arriving Friday, May 31. Pre-orders are available now. The project includes the recent hit, “GOATED (Feat. Royce Da 5’9),” currently spotlighted on ESPN and TNT programming all the way through June’s 2024 NBA Finals and available now HERE. This track is also joined by a self-directed/edited official music video, streaming now on YouTube following its broadcast premiere on BET and digital premiere via COMPLEX, which wrote, “The new video pays tribute to (NASAAN’S) late father, Proof, by recreating the D12 founder’s oft-referenced 1999 MTV News freestyle clip with Eminem. Notably, the ‘GOATED’ video’s release arrives on April 11, i.e. 18 years to the day since Proof was fatally shot at the age of 32.”
ERROR 404 was first heralded earlier this year by “CULLINAN GANG,” featuring fellow Detroit standout Icewear Vezzo and joined by a self-edited video starring both artists streaming HERE. The upcoming mixtape follows such recent successes for NASAAN including a blockbuster On The Radar freestyle, now boasting over 2M multi-platform views. What’s more, NASAAN’s flip of Busta Rhymes’ “Pass The Courvoisier“ music video earned approval from Busta himself, alongside applause from Shrek Knows Rap and more.
NASAAN – who recently made high profile media appearances including interviews with Joe Budden, Angela Yee, Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning, and multiple SiriusXM shows – stands proudly in the legacy of his late father, D12 founder and frontman Big Proof, but it’s clear that the multi-hyphenate artist is honoring that legacy by building his own creative universe. NASAAN produces and raps with all the skill you’d imagine given his pedigree, while simultaneously directing and editing the wildly unique music videos that are distinguishing him from his peers and earning him the respect of rap giants like Eminem and Busta Rhymes. Like NASAAN himself, ERROR 404 is rooted in Detroit but also recognizes Atlanta, the city NASAAN called home from age 6 to 22. If the title also refers to the “file not found” computer response code, NASAAN’s playful irony is clear – 2024 is the year he’s done being undiscovered.
