From her hotly-awaited ‘POV’ EP, Cydnee’s K-pop-inspired signature mix of R&B and liquid D&B is in full effect on this rework of INOJ’s 1999 R&B hit
K-pop obsessed Cydnee with a C fuses 90s R&B nostalgia with liquid drum ‘n’ bass energy, adding a fresh K-pop-inspired shimmer on her seductive new single, ‘Love You Down’. Dropping Friday, 28th March via TH3RD BRAIN Records, it follows January’s ‘At Night’ and February’s ‘Spend It’, offering another taste of Cydnee’s forthcoming six-track POV EP, landing this April.
A clever cover of INOJ’s 1999 classic, ‘Love You Down’ feels like a love letter to late 90s R&B, while still sounding refreshingly modern. Cydnee’s angelic vocals glide over crisp, rolling liquid D&B grooves, wrapped in lush pads and airy, Y2K-esque synths that nod to K-pop’s dreamy, hyper-polished aesthetic.
Cydnee explains that her POV project is a series of tracks from the perspective of a fangirl who loves feel-good music—something reflected in Cydnee’s own deep love for K-pop: “‘Love You Down’ describes her ability to love someone despite his friends thinking she’s naive and incapable,” she says. “It correlates with the nostalgic vibe of ‘At Night’ and the feel-good sonics of the rest of the EP. Everyone has a nostalgic connection to the record. For me, it’s when I was little at the skating rink.”
Described as “if PinkPantheress and Doja Cat had a song child” (Steve Cardigan), Atlanta-raised, LA-based Cydnee with a C blends alt-pop, R&B, and liquid drum ‘n’ bass with a K-pop-inspired edge. After making her mark in Atlanta’s rap and R&B scene—landing two features on Trippie Redd’s A Love Letter To You 2—she carved out a unique space in dance-pop with glitched-out, sugar-sweet vocals and hypnotic bass-driven production. Her debut project, Confessions of a Fangirl, earned praise from Paper, Nylon, and Bandcamp, surpassing 3M streams.
Now, with her upcoming EP, POV, dropping on April 25th, Cydnee continues to evolve. Led by singles like ‘At Night’ (supported by BBC Radio 1Xtra), ‘Spend It,’ and now ‘Love You Down,’ the EP explores love, longing, and late-night introspection. A surprise LA pop-up announced via a viral Steve Cardigan collab has only fueled the momentum, with Sniffers calling the six-track POV project her “most vibrant and magnetic form.”
As she gears up for major events in LA, New York, London, and Seoul, Cydnee is cementing her place in the global drum and bass scene—turning fandom into an art form all its own. See live dates below.
