Chris Lanzon returns with his  new single ‘Technicolo(u)r,’ a vivid journey through the nuances of infatuation. The track delves into the intricate details of falling in love, capturing the intense desire to understand and connect with someone on a profound level.

Technicolo(u)r‘ portrays the whimsical nature of infatuation, where every small gesture and moment feels laden with significance. Lanzon conveys the sensation of seeing the world through the eyes of another, painting a picture of a love that feels destined yet teetering on the edge of reality. The song’s exploration of universal signs and serendipitous moments creates a tapestry of emotions that is both relatable and deeply personal.

Collaborating with Oliver Beard, a newfound friend from his hometown, Lanzon co-wrote ‘Technicolo(u)r’ over a series of sessions, with this track emerging as a standout favourite. The partnership between Lanzon and Beard infuses the song with an organic magic, reflecting the serendipitous connection that inspired the lyrics and the EP as a whole.

Speaking about the meaning behind the release, Chris Lanzon explained, “Technicolo(u)r is an exploration of infatuation. It’s about noticing the smallest details when you’re falling in love—the desire to know everything about someone and to see the world through their eyes. It’s about following universal signs and feeling everything fall into place. It’s also slightly delusional—feeling connected to somebody without actually knowing them. I think we’ve all experienced that odd sense of seeing someone’s life online, admiring them from afar, and they start to feel familiar, like a friend, even if you’ve never met. This concept fascinates me; it can be both beautiful and disturbing. Technicolo(u)r encapsulates all of that.”

“The parenthesis in the title was suggested by a fan during a live stream when I played the song. I mentioned my concern about the varied spelling of ‘Technicolour’ in British and American English, and they suggested adding the (u). I thought it was brilliant, as it gives the title a double meaning—highlighting the U (You), tying into the song’s obsession with this second-person figure.”

Throughout his career, Lanzon has been recognised for his dynamic songwriting and the authenticity of his performances, earning him support slots on major platforms such as BBC Radio 1, TikTok’s Emerging Artist Spotlight, and features in NME, Crack Mag, Ones To Watch, Rolling Stone Aus, Euphoria Magazine, and Atwood Magazine. His cover of “Iris” by The Goo Goo Dolls, which alone amassed over 16 million streams, exemplifies his ability to touch hearts and evoke nostalgia, further solidifying his place in the hearts of listeners and critics alike. The release signifies a new chapter in Lanzon’s journey through signing with international label LAB Records, joining the ranks of artists like Tommy Lefroy, Hockey Dad, Cub Sport, and Aziya.

The music, categorised by the acoustic guitar, warn out synths and tape-y recording process reflect its warmth. Lanzon’s sound, while not tethered to any one place, evokes a universal sense of belonging. It’s as if his music were a mosaic of diverse landscapes, both physical and emotional, creating spaces of warmth and nostalgia that feel remarkably like home, regardless of where one might find themselves.

Chris’ slew of visual releases showcase that his craft extends far beyond the realm of music-making. In anticipation of his latest body of work, prepare to embark on a journey that offers a glimpse into the profound and often unexplored territories of the human heart, guided by Lanzon’s deft visual and sonic storytelling.
