Today, singer-songwriter Chlothegod releases her debut EP Nearly Straight. The project follows previously released singles, “My Bad, My Fault,” “Outta My Mind” and her lead track, “Camille.” Chlo grew up with a love for punk and alternative music as well as neo-soul singers like Erykah Badu and Jill Scott. The eclectic blend of genres now permeates her music, seamlessly blending pop-punk anthems with reverb-drenched guitars and luscious R&B melodies.
Chlothegod’s ability to weave these disparate influences together creates a truly unique and unforgettable sonic experience, simultaneously venturing into new territory while invoking a sense of nostalgia.
Alongside the release, Chlo will be embarking on a North American tour with Amindi beginning tomorrow. Stops include New York, Chicago, Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles and tickets are available HERE.
Collaborating with friends and gracing open mic stages, Chlo found solace and creative fulfillment in the world of music. Her artistic journey began as a dancer and performer in theater, but it was a poetry reading at an open mic that sparked her desire for creative expression. Soon, she found herself working with her neighbor, Kelly Rush, a rapper with a bedroom studio, and honing her skills as a vocalist. In no time, Chlo emerged as a solo artist, penning her own tracks. Smash-cut to nearly a decade later and Chlo is still stunning with her fearless vulnerability—now on the main stage.
