JUNO Award-winning producer-songwriter duo Banx & Ranx team up with fellow Montréal multi-talent Zach Zoya on “The Birds”, the irresistible new bop of the summer. Their infectious signature ECM sound and Zach Zoya’s smooth, agile vocals, once again prove to be a powerhouse fusion following their Top 20 radio hit collab last year for Zoya’s single “Upper Hand”.
“We wrote this song in London a few years ago with Iain James, Linnea Sodahl and Jake Manson and always loved it,” recall Banx & Ranx. “We decided to go back and revisit it, ECM Style, flipping it into a funky reggae vibe with ‘4 on the floor’ drums, a Rub-a-Dub bassline and a Jamaican guitar skank to drive the off-beats. After unlocking the production, we thought of Zach Zoya for the vocals and he absolutely nailed it. We’ve been supporting him for years and it makes sense to share the journey with another Montreal-based artist.”
“Working with Banx & Ranx is like working with family at this point,” says Zach Zoya. “The guys have been showing me love and support since day one; some of the first sessions I ever did was with them. Working with Soké and Yannick is just pure fun. We bounce ideas back and forth and usually within an hour or so, we’ve got a banger! I can’t lie, I’m really excited about this one.”
