Breakout indie pop artist Kevian Kraemer is back with his long awaited new single, “Don’t You Dare,” available everywhere via Atlantic Records.
“With this one I tried to capture the feeling of meeting somebody that checks off all your boxes,” says Kevian Kraemer. “The story of this song paints a young, exciting, and unconditional love that isn’t rooted in anything but pure intentions. Authenticity over materialism is the main point of this song. To be fully rooted in the present and enjoy a moment with somebody is an amazing thing.”
Following a series of posts across Kraemer’s social media, “Don’t You Dare” is already a fan favorite, marking the latest release from the 18-year-old New Jersey-based singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist since last fall’s “Dopamine.” The latter – which sees Kraemer exploring the complexities of modern dating, capturing both the frustration and thrill of uncertainty – is joined by an official lyric video available on YouTube HERE.
Last year also saw the release of Kraemer’s debut EP, Seventeen, highlighted by his breakthrough hit single, “Attention.” The track boasts more than 10M worldwide streams and counting. Additionally, Kraemer celebrated his signing to Elektra Records by sharing a tender acoustic rendition, “Attention (Stripped),” joined by an official music video available HERE.
Carried by breezy waves of live instrumentation, buoyant production, and instantly infectious choruses, Kevian Kraemer’s music sounds a lot like an endless summer. His bright mix of alternative, indie, and pop alternates between the kind of excitement usually brought on by June’s final school bell, sparks of energy perfect for a July night sky, and a fleeting longing typically reserved for August’s last days. Growing up in New Jersey, Kraemer was surrounded by music – his mom excelled on the piano and his sister sang. Meanwhile, his dad played professional soccer as a goalie with Belgium’s national team. Kevian spent his own busy days wrestling, surfing, and playing soccer, though it was while taking drum lessons at Asbury Park, NJ’s Lakehouse Music Academy that he recognized his calling. His musical arsenal quickly expanded to include piano, saxophone, bass, and ukulele. In high school, Kraemer began writing and recording original tunes on GarageBand, immediately gaining traction with infectious tracks such as “Rug,” “Sweater,” and “Buddy.” 2024 saw “Fly” go viral on TikTok, leading to nearly 2M global streams. Kraemer swiftly followed up with his Seventeen EP as well as his first-ever US tour, a 12-city journey supporting Landon Conrath. Now, with “Don’t You Dare” – and more new music to come – Kevian Kraemer captivates with an undeniable and unshakable style all his own.
