Benny Atlas bares all on confessional new single ‘How To Be A Man’ out now via TLD Records. Along with the single’s release, he announces debut mixtape Better Now You Know due out on April 12th on TLD Records.
‘How To Be A Man’ is a delicately constructed record on which Benny bares the deepest recesses of
his psyche, wrestling with notions of manhood and coming to terms with the hollowness he’s been left
with after chasing temporary highs. The song’s instrumentation carries a sanctified nature, its tender
piano chords laying the foundation before opening into a grandiose symphony that mirrors Benny’s
self reflection. In his lyrics, Benny examines topics including self forgiveness, addiction and the
difficulties faced when changing self destructive behaviour patterns. The song is as gentle as it is
powerful, with Benny’s heartfelt vocal performance shining a light on things that had been hidden in
the dark.
Announcing his debut mixtape Better Now You Know, we find Benny at the dawning of a new and
exciting era of his career. The 11 track LP is a highly cohesive project that draws upon Benny’s
experiences in various romantic relationships, examining the complexities of modern manhood and
offering an unflinching insight into each misstep and wrong turn made on his journey to becoming a
better man.
Benny Atlas’ introduction to the world came in November 2020 with debut single ‘Paradise’, which has amassed over 1 million streams on Spotify alone . The following year he released the Honey Rum EP which received praise from platforms including BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 1xtra, Highsnobiety and Notion due to the project’s infectious grooves and Benny’s stellar vocal performances.
In 2022 he was recipient of the PRS Momentum Music Fund, signalling a promising continuation in his career. In the same year, Benny was invited to take part in a ‘1TAKE’ performance with DJ Ace on BBC Radio 1xtra. Later in the year he released the Daphne EP which again was well received and further highlighted Benny’s affinity for writing groovy, sentimental and classy tunes.
Also an electrifying live performer, in 2023 Benny headlined The Lower Third in London to a packed
out crowd before taking stage at The Great Escape showcase for blossoming new talent from across
the UK.
Benny has received excellent support in the lead up to Better Now You Know with single ‘Don’t Say It’ being played on BBC Radio 1 as part of the Next Wave selection made by Arielle Free. Benny was also selected as Rebecca Judd’s Ascending Artist on her Apple Music 1 show, around the release of ‘Uptown’. For his most recent release ‘Off White’, Benny was made the cover for the R&B UK playlist on Spotify.
