NEW EP ‘FIRST LOVES’ OUT JUNE 23RD VIA COMMUNION
Bear’s Den announced the details of their new EP ‘First Loves‘ set for release on June 23rd through Communion Records and showcased by the emotionally-charged new single “Evelyn“.
After an incredibly prolific 2022, which saw them release their highly-praised fourth studio album ‘Blue Hours‘ in May, and their original soundtrack for the Apple TV+ series Trying, on which they collaborated with the likes of Maisie Peters and Jade Bird, folk-pop duo Bear’s Den return once again to announce the details of their new EP ‘First Loves‘, showcased by the emotionally-charged new single “Evelyn“.
While the Bear’s Den anthology to date has been cemented within the more romantic and heartfelt aesthetics this last decade, ‘First Loves’ has become an opportunity for the duo to contemplate some of the more seldom seen elements of falling in love and the turmoil that can come with it.
Previewed by the new lead single “Evelyn”, this opening track is about two people falling in love in very different ways and with very different people. With Evelyn realising the power of her maternal love, whilst her close friend struggles with an unrequited love for Evelyn, making this one of the more heartbreaking additions from their forthcoming collection.
Adding about the new single ‘Evelyn’, they said, “I’ve always been drawn to finding people experiencing intense feelings together but not necessarily reciprocally towards each other. There are two separate love stories happening in the song and that’s kinda interesting to me.”
Bear’s Den will release their new EP ‘First Loves’ on June 23rd via Communion Records. See the full tracklisting below.

Formed in London 2012, Bear’s Den have amassed a dedicated and international fan base with their anthemic songs. With 4 studio albums under their belt, as well as a collaborative project with composer Paul Frith, they have been a regular fixture in the charts of UK and Europe since their inception. Their debut album ‘Islands’ also garnered a nomination for an Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically.
Having toured around the world playing theatres, arenas and festivals (including Reading and Leeds, Glastonbury Festival, Pukkelpop, Lowlands and Bonnaroo), in 2019, following the release of their third album ‘So That You Might Hear Me’ they returned to their origins for a tour of tiny ‘Highlands and Islands’ venues across Scotland and a supporting documentary. No stranger to music documentary making, the band also featured heavily in the award-winning documentary Austin To Boston alongside Ben Howard, Nathaniel Rateliff and The Staves.
The band’s fourth album ‘Blue Hours’ saw them once again team up with producer Ian Grimble. The album was built conceptually around the idea of the “blue hours” – an imaginary headspace where self-reflection takes place and it’s proven to be their most cathartic and boldest record to date.
‘First Loves‘ will follow on from the duo’s fourth studio album ‘Blue Hours‘, which was released in May 2022. The album went on to peak at number 6 in the UK Album Charts, making it their second top ten record.
