“Revolve”, the debut single from bassist, DJ and producer Marla Kether, is out now via Saffron Records. A feel-good dancefloor banger combining a unique blend of live percussion, Theo Parrish-style deep house groove, driving basslines, and diva vocals from Brownswood’s Plumm.
“Revolve” is Marla firmly laying down her musical gauntlet in a self-produced track that will go down a treat with fans of Peggy Gou, I. Jordan, Jayda G, and Joy Orbison.
“Marla Kether resembles a self-made artist whose grit has allowed for her to transcend from playing within the four walls of her home to making audiences groove worldwide.” – Friends of Friends
London-born to Congolese parents, Marla Kether has cut her musical teeth as a session bassist with Yazmin Lacey, Oscar Jerome, and Obongjayar. Marla is now taking centre stage and establishing herself as a solo artist for the first time, since starting to produce music in lockdown 2020, fuelled by a desire to use the time away from touring to develop her own musical identity.
Following performances at Bristol’s Strange Brew, nominated for Best UK Small Club by DJ Mag, and We Out Here Festival in 2022, this year will see Marla release 5 brilliant global dancefloor tracks, with features including Onipa frontman K.O.G, Snazzback collaborator Solomon O.B and Arlo Parks’ keyboardist Madeleine, leading to a highly-anticipated EP in Autumn 2023.
Marla will be playing some of the UK/Europe’s biggest venues this year as bassist for Loyle Carner. During this time she will also be playing her own solo DJ gigs and live band shows and is being hotly tipped for Glastonbury.
Marla is releasing through Saffron Records, the Bristol-based label and respected non-profit organisation making considerable waves in innovative music tech circles, specifically championing women, trans and non-binary folks in the scene.
