As we close in on his highly anticipated EP, Australian wordsmith Chris Lanzon has blessed his global audience with the release of a thought-provoking single,“Towers”, that embraces introspective thinking. As we dive further into Lanzon’s string of singles that explore his journey of self-growth, “Towers” follows in suit with his emotional bearing sound that he’s renowned for.

Steering away from the infatuation embedded within his previous releases “Angel Litany”, “Technicol(u)or”, and “Lilo”, Towers brings to light the more discomforting areas of life. Highlighting those moments where looking elsewhere is easier, or to avoid facing the truth we often keep moving in tunnel vision, Lanzon lets down his guard and unravels common human tendencies through introspective lyricism. Teaming up with hit-maker Deb Never on writing, “Towers” continues to emphasise Chris Lanzon’s ability to nurture a candid relationship with his growing fan base by exploiting his flaws and creating something magic out of them.

Speaking on what inspired the single and how the collaboration with Deb Never came about, Chris Lanzon explained, “Towers is a reflection of our human tendency to avoid discomfort—staying in constant motion, chasing an elusive “better” place instead of being present, running from our past instead of facing it. I often find myself raising my guard and chasing things outside of myself, so this one feels close to me.

I wrote this song with Deb Never, an artist I never thought I’d have the chance to work with. My manager connected us, and we had a session booked at Pirate Studios in L.A. in late 2022. I was anxious, and it was a hectic day for her—her car broke down and needed to be towed. I thought she might cancel, but instead, she biked 45 minutes across L.A. to get there. We had about two hours of studio time left, so we quickly got to know each other and instinctively found the chords and melody, crafting the first verse with the essence of her bike ride that day. Riding through suburbs full of old memories, just passing by. Those two hours carried the heart of the song, and it was a real pleasure working with Deb.”

Hailing from Sydney in Australia, Chris Lanzon is a burgeoning artist with a following that reaches far beyond the Australian border. Since his debut in 2020, Lanzon has dropped a number of notable projects including ‘Far From Perfect’ and ‘Dark Side’ all of which have accumulated millions of streams globally. Following a journey that first started out with busking and open mic nights from the age of 10, Chris Lanzon appeared on a TV show. He then joined a boy band in his teenage years but eventually transitioned into a solo artist. Noting the likes of  Phoebe Bridges and The 1975 as his early influences, his cover of the Goo Goo Dolls single “Iris” has gained over 16 million streams, exemplifying his ability to touch hearts and evoke nostalgia, further solidifying his place in the hearts of listeners and critics alike.
