Arriving just in time for summer, ‘Heatstroke’ is sure to get pulses racing in the clubs and festivals this season. Teaming up with Paul Woolford, who brings the heat with his high-octane production style, Aluna brings the star power with an unforgettable chorus chant of “Move your body”, as a huge bass synthline erupts underneath.
Speaking about the record, Aluna explains: “Lauren Faith and I were writing over Zoom, and at the time I was really missing the club being a new mum. Lauren and I were lusting over that hot and sweaty club vibe, and then Paul Woolford came in and turned up the heat and the sweat was dripping from the ceiling”.
Paul Woolford adds: “Aluna and I met at a post-Grammys dinner in 2023 and it was clear that we should make a record together. I’m very proud to present Heatstroke and I’m glad we put together something classy and fucking proper, basically!”
The track is set to premiere on BBC Radio 1, having already received tastemaker support from the likes of DJ Seinfeld, Annie Mac, Tchami, Ferreck Dawn, Kream, Anna Lunoe, Swanky Tunes, Wongo, Juicy M, Skitzofrenix, Frankie Romano, Rudeejay and many more.
It follows previous single ‘Ride or Die’, which has appeared on editorial playlists including New Music Friday, New Dance Pop, Women of Electronic and many more since it came out earlier this month.
Singer/songwriter Aluna Francis is one-half of the 2012-formed U.K. electronic duo AlunaGeorge and builds upon that act’s sound in a solo context to venture further into eclectic dance-pop territory. She debuted with 2020’s stylistically elastic Renaissance, with several standalone singles appearing in 2021 and 2022, before her sophomore album MYCELiUM came out to acclaim last year.
Paul Woolford is a British DJ, producer and Grammy-nominated artist. Previously a resident at Space Ibiza, 1.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify, with hits including the 2020 single ‘Looking for Me’ in collaboration with Diplo, gaining over 200 million streams. He has also crafted remixes for numerous artists including Khalid, Christine and the Queens, Gabriels, Moby, and LF System.
