Yves Tumor has shared another single and accompanying music video ahead of their forthcoming album Praise A Lord Who Chews But Which Does Not Consume; (Or Simply, Hot Between Worlds), set for release March 17th via Warp Records.
The “Heaven Surrounds Us Like a Hood” video, directed by longtime collaborator Cody Critcheloe (who recently directed the video for Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Grammy-nominated song “Spitting Off The Edge of The World”), doubles as a reveal of Yves’ live band, whose raucous performances has yielded a cavalcade of emphatic reviews from The New Yorker, to NYLON, to Stereogum, the Guardian and beyond.
The sugar-sweet-saturated visual captures the live band in their fresh, free-wheeling chaos blasting through a riotous performance of the song, careening from blustering punk swagger to intimate and rapturous psychedelia. Heaven Surrounds Us Like a Hood is yet another profound reveal of Yves Tumor’s new album world, which is excitingly expressing a new chapter of radically fresh sounds. The band’s quick-selling tour To Spite Or Not To Spite is set to commence at Coachella Festival in April with dates in the US, EU, UK, and more to follow over the course of the year – see full dates below.
“Heaven Surrounds Us Like a Hood” is produced by Noah Goldstein (Frank Ocean, Rosalía, Rihanna, Bon Iver), and mixed by Alan Moulder (Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails), who lends a punchy clarity to the album’s intoxicating melange of addictive melodies and adventurously executed arrangements.
The single was also co-produced by Yves Rothman (Girlpool, Amaarae), along with a gorgeous sweeping live choir arrangement, and instrumentation contributions from band member Chris Greatti alongsides Dylan Wiggins (Rosalía, Vince Staples) and Lemar Carter (Solange, Demi Lovato).
