NAMIBIAN GINA JEANZ DROPS ‘EMOKO’, A DRUM-HEAVY AFROHOUSE TRACK

‘Emoko’, part of the Namibian producer’s forthcoming four-track EP ‘Lifetime In A Dance’, drops a percussion-heavy afrohouse weapon for the dancefloor

Namibian producer/DJ Gina Jeanz drops a percussion-led afrohouse dancefloor bomb, ‘Emoko’, out December 6th via Temper Tone. This is the first of four tracks to be shared from Gina’s anticipated forthcoming EP, Lifetime In A Dance, out December 13th.

Emoko’ is a loopy afrohouse DJ tool, jewelled with deep, organic drums that form an inescapable, danceable rhythm. Simple on the surface, with a complex ecosystem of delicious percussion bubbling beneath, Gina creates a huge atmosphere through hypnotic recorded vocals and subtle sound design.

Following her widely supported sizzling September single ‘Light My Fire’, which gained airtime on BBC Radio 1 and KISS, Gina Jeanz released the exclusive track ‘Step 2 House’ on Bandcamp in November, blending afrohouse’s three step genre with house. Manqo remixed her track ‘Take Me’ this year too, which has gained heavy support from the likes of in-demand act Keinemusik.

Her latest release, ‘Emoko,’ caps off an impactful year for Jeanz. In October, she performed at ADE alongside KillamanjaroVANCO, and Damian Lazarus and hosted a DJ workshop with Pioneer DJ. Earlier in July, she supported South African afrotech icon Shimza at his Cercle event at the Citadel de Sisteron in France (CLIPS HERE).

Gina Jeanz is celebrated for her genre-blending sets and innovative productions, blending Afro House with electronica and sounds from the Namibian diaspora. Trained in classical music and seasoned in Cape Town’s music scene, Gina’s debut album Lucid Theory earned her a spot on Billboard‘s Best New Dance Tracks of 2021 with her production for the track ‘100ml‘. She’s performed globally at festivals like Montreux Jazz, UNUM, and prestigious venues like Amnesia Ibiza and KOKO. Her work’s championed by platforms like BeatportBBC 1xtra, and DJ Mag, while she actively supports women in the music industry, helping pave the way for Namibian and African electronic artists worldwide.

Gina Jeanz is set to drop her percussive groove-infused new single, ‘Emoko,’ on 6th December via Temper Tone. Part of a highly anticipated EP that traverses afrohouse and afrotech, dipping into disco house territory at times, this single teases what promises to be one of the genre’s standout EPs this year.
