LAUNCHING EUROPEAN TOUR WITH TURICH BENJY NOVEMBER 11TH
“one of the most intriguing musicians in Black music” – The FADER
“fearless” – The New York Times
“there’s nothing else like it” – Pitchfork
Today, the enigmatic Pink Siifu shares his new song “SCREW4LIFE’! RIPJALEN’!“. Following a prolific run of collaborative projects over the last several years including It’s Too Quiet..’!! with Turich Benjy, Leather Blvd. as part of B. Cool Aid with Ahwlee and BAG TALK DELUXE with YUNGMORPHEUS, the new song marks Siifu’s first offering of new solo work since his critically acclaimed 2022 solo album GUMBO’!.
“SCREW4LIFE’! RIPJALEN’!” expands on the futuristic soundscape that Siifu first started to explore with GUMBO’!, laying uniquely frenetic and calculated verses over production drowned in heavy bass. GUMBO’! was where Siifu first connected with Turich Benjy on the standout track “Bussin (Cold),” introducing the Cincinnati artist into the creative community that Siifu has been cultivating for years. The album featured many faces new and old from that community, including Nick Hakim, WifiGawd, Vayda, VCR, Lance Skiiwalker, Big Rube, Nelson Bandela and more, as well as production from Tony Seltzer, Harry Fraud, HiTech, DJ Harrison, Swarvy and others.
Siifu will also be embarking on a series of European tour dates with Turich Benjy next month, bringing their raucous live show for It’s Too Quiet..’! overseas after their North American tour earlier this year. The European run bookends a series of solo live shows for Siifu over the last several months including a run of dates in support of MAVI on his Shadowbox tour, and supporting Freddie Gibbs and Madlib’s Teñata anniversary shows in New York and LA.
As a solo artist, Siifu received universal acclaim for his 2018 breakout solo album ensley, and obliterated all expectations on his genre-defying album NEGRO, released in 2020, which the New York Times called “the most fearless album in his vast catalog of equally experimental music.” He’s remained a steadfast musical polymath, impossible to pin down to one genre, sound, or group of peers, instead choosing to do it all and excel, from neo-soul and R&B with B. Cool-Aid’s Leather Blvd. earlier this year, serene guest vocals on tracks with The Avalanches or his noisy, provocative presence on Armand Hammer’s rowdy track “Trauma Mic.”
