Rising pop star Sofia Camara releases her highly anticipated new single “Starlight” via 21 Entertainment and Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. The much-awaited new single has received overwhelming fan demand since Sofia Camara teased it last month to over 2.2 million views across social platforms. A natural follow-up to this summer’s “Do You Love Me,” “Starlight” continues in a line of gut-wrenching power pop ballads from the breakthrough vocalist.

Starlight” is produced by Red Triangle (Camila Cabello, Charlie Puth, Halsey) and co-written alongside Wayne Hector (Nicki Minaj, One Direction, Kylie Minogue). Sofia showcases her crystal-clear vocals on some of the most heart-breaking lyrics she has penned to date, singing, “It was never the right time for you to be mine, but the moment I let you go was the moment the door was closed, was the moment I need you most.” She continues, “It’s never that easy finding someone who’s lost all alone, so I’m putting pieces of me right into the night sky, hoping it’s leading you home. So, follow the Starlight.”

The release coincides with Sofia’s announcement as part of the coveted VEVO DSCVR Artists to Watch series. She debuted the official live performance video of “Who Do I Call Now? (Hellbent)” this week, which was shot at VEVO’s Brooklyn studio. Watch below.

Her participation in the program will also include a live performance video of “Starlight” which will be released in the coming weeks.

On her selection to the DSCVR program, Sofia Camara says, “Being asked to be a VEVO DSCVR artist is so exciting for me. It was such a unique experience to film these videos. It was my first time performing ‘Starlight.’ Truly an unforgettable moment. Thank you VEVO so much for having me!”

Sofia joins notable alumni from the VEVO DSCVR series including Chappell Roan, Tyla, Ice Spice, Josh Ross, Reneé Rapp, Teezo Touchdown, d4vd, Nonso Amadi, and more.

Last week, it was announced that Sofia Camara will be singing the National Anthem at the CFL’s 111th Grey Cup in Vancouver on November 17. She rounds out a stellar lineup of talent performing that weekend, including the Jonas Brothers and Owen Riegling.

Starlight” comes on the heels of Sofia’s first European tour supporting Alex Warren in London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen, and more. The tour concluded late last month and was a glowing success, with fans raving over her sensational live vocals.

Sofia has shared a prolific string of new releases this year, including “Do You Love Me” and “Who Do I Call Now? (Hellbent),” with the latter amassing over 18.9 million global streams and opening doors across the world for the 22-year-old Portuguese Canadian vocalist and multi-instrumentalist. She headlined her first international shows in London and Amsterdam this summer and supported Canadian pop icon Shawn Desman across his national tour. This year’s accomplishments also include a performance at the International Portuguese Music Awards, where she was nominated for Best New Talent.

ABOUT SOFIA CAMARA:
Sofia Camara builds her songs with an architect’s vision. For the singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist from Toronto, she’ll glide across the keys, or strum a chord progression, until she lands on a melody that fits the lyrical storyline she’s been weaving together in her head. She writes best when it’s late. Nightfall invites a particular vulnerability, when animated recollections of the day become the seed of inspiration — often, she replays on the events of the day, and imagines a new outcome.

Her viral hit single “Who Do I Call Now? (Hellbent)” is the triumph of an artist attuned to the contours of her voice — a gift to her over 1.2M followers across social platforms who have liked her videos over 23 million times. It aligns with an artistic ambition devoted to relatability above all else, and attempts to offer up her experiences so others might better understand theirs. Instinctually, she defers space to the emotions of those around her: always listening, learning, then leaning into what she hears. It’s the same way she approaches covers of songs crafted by others (Miley Cyrus was a fan of Camara’s cover of “When I Look at You”) with more than a goal to recreate, but a desire to fully embody the spirit of a song; getting in between the lines of a track and creating something raw and new. A perfectionist at heart, Sofia Camara is pushing the boundaries of her comfort zone to better perfect her craft.

Approaching universal themes — like infatuation and heartache, loss and self-discovery — Sofia Camara finds the sweet spot of post-adolescent curiosity, mixed with a self-aware maturity wise beyond her years. She’s detail-oriented above all else, pinpointing a deeply human emotion then examining it from all sides. She’s courageously a work in progress.
